Academy Mixer? Nat! Liz! Audrey!
I can't even remember where or how I found this photo -- I think it was during the rush of web activity mourning Elizabeth Taylor's passing. And I think it must be from 61/62? But how insane is this?
Elizabeth Taylor and Natalie Wood and Audrey Hepburn all awkwardly dancing with their men friends within bumping distance of each other? It's so "It Movie Stars of the 60s". CrazyHotNostalgia. That'd be like if you could find a candid shot of Meryl, Kathleen & Michelle dirty dancin' in the 80s or Faye, Jane & Diane boogieing in the 70s or Kate and Cate and Nicole letting loose in the 00s or, ah, ... well, you could play this game for hours. Gah! Wonderment.

All right, I'm now going to spend the rest of my life looking for a picture of Nickers, Kate and Cate doing the Soulja Boy dance at some Hollywood party. It must exist, even if I have to will it into being.
Too much loveliness for one photo, truly.
Also, I totally want Natalie's dress. That frock is fab.
I vividly remember this photo from a movie mag around 1960...
Natalie Wood is a year YOUNGER than Jane Fonda. Yet this page makes it sound as if Natalie was the older one, since you categorize her in a different era.
She is almost ten years younger than Hepburn.
Natalie was too young to be a star in the era she was - either that or Fonda and Dunaway were too old.
I just find it very sad that Natalie Wood is always compared to actresses much older than herself, rather than those of her own age.
The men friends are stars in their own rights: Eddie Fisher, Mel Ferrer and Robert Wagner.
"Meryl, Kathleen & Michelle dirty dancin'" This is just an image which refuses to leave my head. Make this a movie.
Andrew K -- Totally! and with 80s hairstyles and clothes
jenny -- I don't think 'their' decades are defined by their age but they are defined by their popularity. Think of Betty White, she's ten year's Liz's senior, however I wouldn't say the sixties were her decade, but the eighties or aughts are. And Diane is only three years older than Meryl, and different decades too.
It's a shame. Legends nowadays are only spotted together on magazines.
jenny -- yes, the 60s were definitely Natalie's peak. But yes she was much younger than the other icons that were essentially her peers in massive stardom. But we get that all the time even now. People get to fame on much different timetables.
Andrew -- mine too and i wrote it ;)
This picture is exactly what i think of if i were to picture these couples in my head. Liz looking criminally bored with Eddie, Natalie making Robert look like her personal charity case, and Audrey and Mel looking abnormally beautiful for a pair of perfectly normal happy people.
