Still need to see that.
Every time the internet tries to force me to hate on Gwyneth Paltrow (I'm talking to you, Gawker/Jezebel), I just think of Margot Tenenbaum and can't.
Probably my favorite Gwyneth performance, totally would have made my personal Oscar lineup.
Like Tomei earlier in the decade Paltrow was given an Oscar prematurely. Of the supporting actress nominees for 2001 -- Kate Winslet was the most deserving winner. In fact both Iris and Sunshine are her best in show nominations.
I know my favorite performance from the two principle female cast of Tenenbaums is Gwyneth, but I do love the fact that Scott Rudin The Addams Family sort of gave Anjelica Huston back to her fans as a matriarch of a peculiar family again.
pss..pss I only have a Supporting Actress Oscar... how do you get a BEST Actress Oscar?
/3rtfull: Marisa Tomei won her Oscar in 1992 for My Cousin Vinny, not for In the Bedroom in 2001 (that year it was Jennifer Connelly for A Beautiful Mind, though that one is another story). Just FYI. And, I don't know if it's so much a case of pre-mature as it is a case of people not giving these ladies the credit they deserved around that time and only getting that credit much later with meatier roles. I think Gwyneth is an exceptionally gifted lady who, yes, probably won an Oscar too soon, but I find her delightful whenever I see her. Same with Marisa Tomei (I actually love that she won an Oscar for a comedic role for a change).
Paltrow to Anjel: Make sure there are no fat girls in your category.
Richter Scale: You're confused. I never said she won in 2001 over Kate Winslet. I said she won her Oscar prematurely as Paltrow eventually did. Which ruined them with the Academy and the public for the rest of their careers. Yes, Tomei did rise again for two subsequent nominations in the next decade -- and Paltrow is still waiting for her sophomore nomination which may never come?
You know I just re-read my paragraph and now understand why you were confused. Forgive me.
The one movie that made stop on hating Gwinie because of SiL, and start seriously loving her. Need to see it again
