First Look At "August: Osage County"

Well, lookie here. It's our first official photos from August: Osage County. Albeit tiny blurry ones.

UPDATE: What the text on that page says

This glossy promotional item with photos of Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Juliette Lewis, Julianne Nicholson, and Ewan McGregor and The House (!) where it all goes down was emailed to me by a reader who is currently attending the American Film Market.

Streep with dark hair always makes me think of Silkwood which is never an unpleasant thought and coincidentally also takes place in Oklahoma. If A:OC is anywhere close to Silkwood's quality everyone wins.

P.S. I'm wild for Juliette with red locks.

P.P.S. Back to this year's Oscar race!

Ewan looks super hot!

Too bad the characters' name are already set because how meta-awesome would it be to have the daughters named Julia, Juliette and Julianne? Talk about a crazy family.

November 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMareko

so. excited. for. this. movie. already.

Meryl. in a a part of a lifetime - pill popper, mouth cancer, alcoholic, foul mouth who devours her young - be still my heart...Looks like Oscar all the way...

November 5, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterme

I had no idea that Julianne Nicholson is attached to this film. I've always been kind of in love with her.

I'm not familiar with August at all but i really hope Ewan gets some love.

He NEVER seems to get love, accolades and awards. He always seems to end up in movies where he gets overshadowed in favor of someone else.

I'm so exited for this movie, can't wait before its premiere. Have not seen Roberts in serious movie so long and I think the cast is just amazing. I've read on IMDB that Benedict Cumberbatch is also credited for the movie.

And here is just missing Abigail Breslin, Sam Shepard and Cris Cooper.

Dear god...

it begins.

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMark The First

Love it! So glad Juliette Lewis is back in something.

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterEric C.

LOVING that the women actually share just enough of a resemblance to really pass (on film, anyways) as family.

Image of the house is really quite striking. Fingers crossed...

Ewan is so fucking gorgeous holy shit

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAva

you know i keep thinking will they commit category fraud with Roberts or will Meryl and her go head to head for lead and also could Julia win a 2nd in either category.

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered Commentermark

Pretty excited for this one.

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered Commentermichael

They'll push Meryl for lead. They have to. Meryl as lead and Julia for Supporting. Harvey knows how to play the game. He wouldn't split the votes and put them both in the same catagory.

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterHolly

Julia Roberts will not Blanchett herself down for Meryl Streep. Keep in mind several possible Supp Actress contenders from this one movie alone to fill at least three slots.

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered Commenter3rtful

Agree I just can't see Julia settling for supp esp when martindale, lewis, nicholson and upham will more than likely be up for that.

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered Commentermark

Martindale might steal the show. I'll be glad.

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterPeggy Sue

This is a Harvey Weinstein movie if he says Roberts is supporting she's supporting. That man works magic, he'll play the game his way and no one will tell him otherwise. That's why he's the best we have, and of all goes right August will sweep next year.

I'm really worried that every single role is being played by someone I'm familiar with. It just seems like there's an element of non-surprise with casting like that. Of course, I've seen the play which was nothing but for surprises for me, so I guess it shouldn't matter since I already know the spoilers. Still, I'm thrilled for the return of Juliette Lewis. Wonder how they'll translate dish-breaking to the screen.

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterjtagliere

I still can't see Roberts as Barbara .. she has never shown a lot of depth in her roles ... Erin B...
was Ok , but I could see many actresses in that role..... that sometimes guides me to choose a player's expertise in the role.

Barbara and Violet are both definitely lead roles... let's see how the movie comes out...

It is the kind of play done wrong will really bomb... it is deep and thought provoking.

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterrick

Peeks my curiosity.

Side note: I wonder why Ewan McGregor doesn't go with scruff more often.

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterColin Biggs

I like Meryl Streep as much as the next guy, but I was really hoping this part would go to Judy Davis, or even more daringly, 80-something year old Estelle Parsons who really knocked it out of the ball park on Broadway.

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJiminy Snap

Julia really has to show some acting chops (which I've never seen) in order to even get a nomination - lead or supporting. I see this talented cast acting circles around her.

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterme

Julia is a smart actress....she must know Meryl and Juliette (especialy the latter who stole her scene with de Niro in Cape Fear when she was what?, 15?) will eat her alive if she doesn't do her homework.

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterfreddie

Uh, guys. This movie might suck. Just saying. Everyone's throwing Oscar talk but it wouldn't be the first time a great play stank on the big screen, even with great actors. Recent example? Roman Polanski's "Carnage."

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterwiredream

Julia wouldn't have done this film if she were going to be campaigned for supporting.

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterVince Smetana

wiredream -- this is my great fear.

me -- but that role might really play into her strengths. she's good when she's angry and unhappy i think. Think CLOSER

November 6, 2012 | Registered CommenterNATHANIEL R

i only wanna watch this movie because Abigail Breslin is in it. Love her so much!

November 13, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterperson

I grew up over there. I've been in the mansion many times. My grandparents owned a little piece of land just up the road. I hiked, played, and fished and hunted all that area where the movie was made. Pretty exciting stuff for that area. Didn't believe they were makin a movie there! Can't wait to see it.

I'm extremely excited for Mr. Cumberbatch! His career is definitely sky rocketing. Atta boy!
