Enjoy watching charming Europeans capture Oscars.

...act like I did the first time I watched 16 years ago, which means I'll cry at least once, get up whenever there's a standing ovation and join in, and cheer for Kate Winslet (even if she doesn't even show up)!

... throw my first ever Oscar party in my tiny tiny dorm room. I'm thinking 2 dollar bottles of champagne seem appropriately classy.

I'll be thanking my lucky stars I have nothing on Monday since I now live in London and will be watching a live stream under my blankets in the middle of the night.

On Oscar night I'm planning to drink plenty of coffee and stay awake all night long to see the historical moment of Meryl's 3rd win!

But I know eventually I'll fall asleep... as ever! =(

February 10, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterTerris

And Meryl won't win... as ever! =(

...host my annual Oscar party and post each course on Facebook as I serve. Every food item and nearly every drink is related to one of the nominees for Best Picture. It was a lot less difficult when there were only five nominees!

This year is proving particularly difficult, though. I have The Artist (black & white cookies, duh!), Extremely Loud (that thingy that Max von Sydow eats at the street vendor's), The Help (Minnie's fried chicken), Hugo (croissants), and Moneyball (ballpark franks). But wtf food do I serve to represent The Tree of Life? Haven't seen The Descendants or Midnight in Paris, so I'm hoping I can get away with being general with those (pineapple or something else Hawaiian and cafe au lait should do it). And what about War Horse? I didn't really like the film, but no matter how much I dislike it, I am NOT serving horse meat.

Throw a party in my residence common room, and hopefully not get caught for underage drinking! And introduce my friends to the Oscars, which they've never watched before.

February 10, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJoe

bake Oscar cookies, and try and stay up from 2:00 A.M until 6:00 A.M., jump for joy if someone else than Clooney wins Best Actor, cheer when Octavia wins, be moved if Viola wins or bring down the house if Meryl wins her third, finally. That would be some party! :D

... curse the Academy for not giving "Young Adult" ALL of the awards.

February 10, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterkenneth
