Ellen Round Two!

Guess who's strapping in for another Oscar night adventure? Ellen Degeneres that's who! Just announced: the comedienne and talkshow host will do her second solo gig as Oscar Host this coming March 2nd, 2014. She first hosted, as you'll recall, for the 2006/2007 Oscar ceremony which saw The Departed crowned Best Picture.

I'm glad Ellen is back for round two. You?

Since we all know Ellen loves to dance I hope there's either a Mary Poppins/Saving Mr Banks inspired "Steppin' Time" number in which various movies are represented -- you know how that song keeps changing to mirror whatever it's celebratin' -- or she does a group dance with the cast of American Hustle since they're already getting their boogie on.

Any other proposals as to what Ellen should do on Oscar night?

She will hopefully have a better night for suspense, since the 2007 Awards (except for Supporting Actor) were so pre-ordained from the beginning of the Awards season. But, agreed, dancing is always a good choice.

Ellen is fine, but I wish it was Kristen Wiig.

I am happy!!!

So happy about this! It's like the Academy is repaying me for suffering through Seth (...and Billy ...and James/Anne ...and Steve/Alec).

She hosted the awards show the one time I threw an Oscar party so... great memories. Plus who doesn't love Ellen? I'm eye-rolling at everyone who thinks she's too "safe."

Even if she's "safe," is that really a bad thing? I love Ellen. She brings positivity with her humor. The Oscars are, after all, supposed to be a celebration. I think she'll do a great job (again)!

Ellen was terrific the last time, but I still wish it was Steve Martin. He has been my favorite host since I started watching in 1989/1990.

loved this!
and agree with anne marie. I'm tired of the 'edgy' comedians, ellen is funny enough and doesn't need to offend people.

She is one of my favorite Oscar hosts. I still crack up thinking about her vacuuming around Helen Mirren's seat and asking her if she wanted a rum and Coke. This announcement helps wipe out the bad taste in my mouth left by Seth. Blech.

A smart and welcome choice. I can't wait to see how she responds to "I Saw Your Boobs."

And yes, I agree with Brookesboy: that vacuuming moment still makes me smile.

I totally forgot she already hosted the Oscars! She was kind of dull, wasn't she?

This was such a great way to start the day. Love Ellen, and if I had a wishlist, it would only have one item: bring on the Portia cameo!

Love Ellen and love that she's getting another go at the Oscars - she's one of the more underrated hosts in recent memory. I would love to see her attempt a Hugh Jackman-style opening number, actually. That could be a lot of fun. I'll settle for a Billy Crystal-style inserting-herself-into-film-clips montage, though.

She can do something interesting with it next year. Last year, I so wanted Meryl Streep to come out and say to Seth MacFarlane, "Seth, I've seen your moobs." By next March, Ellen can preside over a female dominated movie season.

Ellen is much better than that turd Seth McFarlane. But they need to bring back Steve Martin again, he's the best Oscar host I've seen.

I was thinkinf some time ago that I wanted this to happen and I'm pretty pleased.
