Beauty Break: Jessica Chastain, Sarah Paulson, and Anne Hathaway

Three of our very favorite talented beauties, two of whom we've had the pleasure to interview right here at The Film Experience (Jessica & Sarah), have new photoshoots out.

This appears to be Jess's fav picture from the Interview photoshoot since she singled it out.

But before we drink in the triple gorgeousity let's look at today's kerfuffle with Jess. This very click-baity headline appeared on Page Six

Jessica Chastain: Give Anybody But Meryl Streep a Chance

It was of course a misquote. Jessica, who we all know is almost insanely positive and warm fuzzy hugs in her public persona, was just saying exactly what we're always saying right here: 'why is it only Streep?' She took to Twitter/WhoSay to clear things up:

That imaginary Jess/Streep throwdown behind us, more Chastain, Paulson, and Hathaway photos after the jump

Chastain photographed by Craig McDean for Interviewanother Craig McDean shot

With any kind of acting, you're basically living the emotion that you're going to work in every day, so sometimes I'm like, "I am so tired of crying, how great would it be to experience joy and laughter every day?" I am actively looking for a comedic role in something.

MUST READ ARTICLE - Julianne Moore interviews Sarah Paulson and it's just as wonderful as that description has you imagining already. Here's a glorious sample:

MOORE: I say this to young actors all the time, and I'm going to say this to you because you're younger than me: Remember that nobody's doing you any favors. When somebody casts you, they want you to solve their problem. They want you to be good, so know that they're on your side. Know that about Ryan, too. When a producer or director grabs an actor like that, they think, "Oh thank God. Finally!" But what's it like to play a lady with two heads?

PAULSON: It's one of the more complicated things I've ever done, which is just how I like it. The more challenging it is, the more alive I feel. I'm playing a person who has two heads—so two separate brains, two separate sets of motor skills. So I'm having to do things with my body that are the polar opposite of what my body actually wants to do. It's hard and scary because I don't know if it's going to work. We're still so early into it; we're only on the third episode. At the same time, it's letting me know about other things that I didn't know I was capable of. I'm acting by myself a lot, and one of my favorite things about acting is the connection that you make with another person. There's something very, very valuable and exciting and moving to me about that part of what we do.

MOORE: Me too. That's why I like it so much. And the reason I can say I completely understand is that I had to play look-alikes on a soap opera [As the World Turns] years ago, and I kept saying, "It's really hard and it's lonely, and it's kind of boring," because I was playing both parts and I always knew what was going to happen. I like the mystery.

And, ICYMI it...

and I definitely forgot to a handful of days ago, Anne Hathaway is the cover girl for the new edition of Elle UK . So glad she's coming back to us.

I strongly believe that Chastain reads this site.

Peggy Sue -- you flatter me. Maybe. You never know. I do know one Oscar nominated actress that does ;) and a couple more i suspect.

I strongly believe Chastain reads every site like this.
And why not?

October 8, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterSonja

Whew. Thanks for clearing up all the internet nonsense. All three of these ladies are great. Paulson was in another 'zine last month that also featured an article with Viola (who was on the cover). Both had amazing photo shoots.

Three sets of absurdly perfect bone structures.

October 8, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMargaret

“But I feel like she’s the only one in her age group who gets those parts.”

I initially read Jessica Chastain's comment as Hollywood's inability to look past Meryl Streep when casting for those lead roles. It is a valid criticism of Hollywood and didn't seem like an attack on Streep, rather a desire to see other talented actresses in that age group get their due. She doesn't actually say that more roles need to be written specifically for older women. In all fairness, she does say more roles need to be written about women in general.

October 8, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterdela

I am ready for Anne Hathaways return.

October 8, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterKeegan

Not sure what Chastain is trying to say there. Should Meryl turn down the roles she is offered because someone else in the industry is thinking"why is it always Meryl?"

I guess Helen Mirren, Judi Dench, Glenn Close, Dianne Wiest, and others should take comfort in Chastain's thinking.

Oh...isn't it at least imaginable that there are a number of actresses picking up magazines, reading blogs and thinking, "Why is it ALWAYS Chastain?"

There are hundreds of them. I know many of those women waiting tables, answering phones and just scraping by wondering exactly that.

October 8, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterPatryk

And please give some of the Chastain roles to Sarah Paulson.

October 8, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterPatryk

Jessica Chastain is perfection. More and more, I'm thinking that an actressexual created her in a lab.

October 8, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMike M.

I love that Sarah is friends with Julianne... so cute. I'm ready to see Anne on screen as I like her acting but not ready to cringe on her interviews so maybe I can just skip those.

October 8, 2014 | Unregistered Commentermurtada

This is such a wonderful era for actresses. There are so many I absolutely love.
Now let's put them all to work with well written roles!

October 8, 2014 | Unregistered Commenteradri

@Nathaniel what Oscar-nominated actress? Which one? Spill the beans! :)

October 8, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterCarlos

Patryk: I'm not sure if Dench, Mirren and Wiest are easily or justifiably comparable to Streep. Two are British and one's a character actress. But, okay, let's look at Glenn Close, the most legitimate comparison point. Before Albert Nobbs, which got her an Oscar nomination, what was her last lead film role? 102 Dalmatians, in 2000! Not even her (amazing) performance in The Shield got Hollywood to toss her a juicy leading role in the gap between the airing of that and the filming of Damages. Would Streep EVER have to wait ELEVEN BLEEPING YEARS between opportunities to lead a movie!?

October 8, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterVolvagia

That first shot of Jessica Chastain is absolute perfection. I'd like to personally thank everyone that was involved in that shoot for scorching my retinas.

October 8, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMDA

chastain is annoying sometimes with the excessive 'loveliness'... but there are worse things to be of course. may she refuse roles to spread the wealth when she reaches meryl's age in a few years.

October 8, 2014 | Unregistered Commentermarcelo

I second the idea of Hollywood tossing Paulsen some of Chastain's roles. Frankly,
I find myself in Chastain-fatigue mode with the flood of her movies the past
Few years.

October 8, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMark

A big YES to Chastain. She's so right.

October 8, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterOwen

chastain needs to stop taking all these roles from other good actresses. give another actress a chance! you don't need 10 movies in one year.

page six is page six. they will twist a story's title to get exposure. that's what they do. it just makes chastain look silly that a respected address needs to address a tabloid's story title.

October 8, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterseesaw

seesaw- You say that when she had only Mama out in 2013

October 8, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterCMG

I do believe Chastain and Hathaway are wearing the same shoes........................

October 9, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterHenry

Isn't it a bit hypocritical?! Come on, Jessica Chastain, you appear in lots of movies, but you criticize Meryl Streep for doing the same thing?!

October 9, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterZooey

How do you guys read any of the quotes as criticisms of Streep and not of casting agents/directors/the industry? She is obviously not suggesting Streep turns down roles (just like she wouldn't -- though maybe Chastain wouldn't appear in things like The Giver), just that everyone look at more options and have more roles out there.

October 9, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterkin

Chastain will be nominated this year. Not sure if she'll be competitive to win despite the quality of her performance. What concerns me is her openness to speak her mind. Hollywood is a patriarchy. They hate women to have an opinion about anything and express it publicly. I know she is hot enough now not to worry. But being passed over for Jennifer Lawrence in the Best Actress category sets her up for Supporting Actress ville when they want to shut her up with a prize that won't mean much.

October 9, 2014 | Unregistered Commenter3rtful

3rtful--<<But being passed over for Jennifer Lawrence in the Best Actress category sets her up for Supporting Actress ville when they want to shut her up with a prize that won't mean much.>>

Where are you coming from with this? Lawrence is out of the conversation for this year and a supporting actress Oscar is only topped by a best actress prize and then only by a hair. Oscar winner, is Oscar winner. If there was an Oscar for making coffee, it would top just about every other film prize out there so either your meaning isn't clear or you are way off base.

I also seriously doubt Chastain would have said what she said if she thought it would upset Streep or just about anyone else. It's a pretty innocuous statement.

October 9, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterHenry

Supporting Actress is a trap. Unlike Supporting Actor where winning it once if they like you can almost guarantee they will upgrade you to the Best Actor category. The same is not true for women. Only Streep, Lange, and Blanchett have managed. And they just so happen to be titans. I love Chastain. And I know the value of a Best Actress win. She only needs to win it once. Twice is a curse if your name's not Vivien Leigh.

October 9, 2014 | Unregistered Commenter3rtful

3rtful--I don't buy it. Shelley Winters has two, Diane Wiest has two......there is more of a line between ingenue and character actress wining in Best A and Supporting A than any sort of curse. If anything, the curse has more to do with winning period than winning in either category and I don't see it stopping anyone from a nomination. Judy Dench is the perfect example.

By your thinking Hathaway is done and I seriously doubt that to be the case.

October 9, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterHenry

3rtful & Henry, check this out:

October 9, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterPaul Outlaw

Hathaway is hungry for another Oscar and preferably one in Best Actress. I believe she'll succeed in winning again.

Chastain is my queen. If we're stuck for the foreseeable cheering on white girls only in Best Actress. They better be the ones I like and respect.

October 9, 2014 | Unregistered Commenter3rtful

Paul Outlaw--You realize you are quoting Entertainment Weekly. That alone makes it a suspect source. It's a crap piece of writing from a crap source.

I think the issue has more to do with how the winners deal with their win that result in career problems. Sorvino is a nightmare to work with which is why her career derailed (rumor is Woody almost replaced her on Aphrodite because she was such a pain.) and became even more of one later (I worked a film with her post win. We were warned in advance to expect problems and she didn't disappoint.). Harden is also known to be demanding and likes to gossip openly about her co-stars (talk to the original Angels cast sometime)......I could go on but I think the "curse" is more self destruction than anything to do with the industry. The "curse" is fun to talk about, but that's all.

October 9, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterHenry

First I'm hearing of Sorvino being horrible. She has a sweet disposition on camera at media events. Shocker! Harden being a bitch is not a shocker. But her being a gossip seems beneath her somehow.

The Oscar itself is more so a burden of expectation from the person who won it and those who pay attention to those winning them.

October 9, 2014 | Unregistered Commenter3rtful

Henry, I was well aware of the source. Wasn't looking at the quality of the writing, more at the stats listed in it, as they pertained to your debate. I'll see myself out.::backing away::
