Curio: Actorly Outerwear

Alexa here.  Sweater and jacket weather is upon us, that brief time of year where I can pretend to be strolling through the Upper West Side autumns of Woody Allen, or imagine myself on the golden Central Park stroll of Harry and Sally. (My actual fall look is a bit more Julianne in Still Alice, but we can't all be slaves to fashion.) As I drag my wool and leather out of mothballs today, I thought I'd share some outerwear creations for men, inspired by some signature roles of the actors who wore them.

Be like Fassy as Magneto in this jacket, available here.

Bane's terrorist cozy look in leather and shearling, available here.

The Gosling classic, available here.

Starlord's leather look available here.

Batch it up in this wool replica, available here.

Another, better source for the Magneto jacket, and lots of other film-costume leather jackets, is the English company Wested:

Wested is actually a professional film costume shop that sells to the public as a sideline: the owner made the original Raiders of the Lost Ark jackets back in 1980. (I've owned one of their custom-sized lambskin Raiders jackets for over a decade and love it. They sell LOTS of 'em.) And they are quite reasonably priced, even for jackets made to custom size. Anyway, they are worth a look, if only to check out all how many cool costumes they've made over the years.

I bought a replica of the Scorpion jacket from Drive two or so years ago, and get frequent compliments. It is choice and hot as hell.
