I have tickets to see Marisa Tomei in The Rose Tattoo tomorrow evening. I'm over the moon!

Tarantino will be back after his "retirement". He's too opinionated and creative to give it up.

July 11, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterIbis

Tarantino is looking for way out. His conversation he intends to retire is to drum up greater interest in whatever he's promoting. He hates digital projection calling it TV in public (disagree since an image is projected on screen) and digital cameras because he sees it as recording instead of capturing still images which will eventually move once projected.

Tomei has an Oscar. An infamous Oscar. She should aim for Broadway relevancy. She looks too young to be so old (Hollywood standards of old) for the roles appropriate for her age. Her late 50's / early 60's could be her key to a renaissance.

The Duvall story is so utterly depressing I can only assume news of her death will be a cold end to 2016.

I'm with Film School Rejects. I do wish her the very best, and if that means leaving her alone then so be it, her filmography and peak work is as indelible and magnificent as many longer-lasting peers; But I'd love to see Shelley Duvall in a major role again, lead or supporting. Surely the next season of Top of the Lake can fit her in? Maybe the next Cronenberg, or P.T. Anderson like the article suggested. She can be Carrie Coon's mom in that upcoming season of Fargo! I just want her to be happy, and if that means she reminds in hiding that's totally fine. But I hope she gets one last chance to knock it out of the park again. And an Honorary Oscar. That too.

I hate those whiny stupid fanboys of Ghostbusters so much that I won't be surprised if they are just a bunch of nerdy virgin Trump voters.

July 11, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterCraver

I like the cast and will see it opening weekend, but I'm kinda pissed off that I feel obligated to see a remake of an 80s comedy because the internet couldn't hide its rampant misogyny.

Onyx -- happy birth!

Arkaan -- right? the world is mad.

Billy -- you must let us know how it was!

These Ghostbusters haters are ticking me off. Seriously, we have far more serious issues going on in our country right now and people are having a freaking aneurysm over a harmless reimagining of a beloved film classic.

You know, I'm tired of seeing white dudes saving the Earth in every superhero film these days and seeing Iron Man in almost EVERY damn Marvel movie. So I'm glad for Star Wars for changing things up by adding more women and POC and that Ghostbusters is creating more female protagonists so that young girls can be able to see themselves represented on screen.

I think Ghostbusters may be really big. For months I've been planning to see it this weekend with some girlfriends I've never gone to the movies with before, all because of the dumb controversy.

You won't regret watching "Fargo". ;)

July 12, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterTyler

BillyHeldanOscar- Lucky! I had to choose between that play and "Streetcar" at St. Ann's. I chose Gillian Anderson over Marisa Tomei but I REALLY wanted to see both. Also missed Audra McDonald in Moon Over Misbegotten at WTF last year. :(

July 12, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterPam

Oops. "Moon for the Misbegotten".

Re Ghostbusters. Outrage is so stupid, as is the kerfuffle over the Sulu character in the new Star Trek movie. Let's move this kind of outrage to something REALLY important in real life...

...like how come my kids are catching more Pokemons than me?

Fargo is wonderful, and actressexual heaven! Start from season one and never look back!

July 12, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterLauraB

Shelley Duvall's work in '3 Women' trumps anything most venerated actors have done or will do, including Meryl Streep and talentless pig JLaw.

July 12, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterCal

Do "Tarzan" really need an evil fag villain?

July 12, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterJaragon

I don't think Jude Law is a talentless pig. I'd assert he's more beautiful than most mere mortals, at the very least.

Otherwise I'd have to ask on this actressexual of all websites to not refer to women as pigs.

July 12, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterArkaan

Bravo, Arkaan. (This post doesn't even have anything to do with anyone named Law or any permutation thereof.)
