Wait - did the oscars shave 2 weeks between nominations and awards? Is this good?

Mike -- i don't think it's that long but maybe a week shaved off? I'm also wondering if the nomination balloting period is shorter. Has it always been just a single week? It's so weird that some awards shows have months to vote and others just a week.
