@Peter Oh God, I hope not.
Willy:
I misread. Your are missing 6 Oscar nominated performances. Which are they? And why do you say there are 3 missing films. That's only 2, as I mentioned in my post above. :) Congratulations again! And, by the way, I actually don't remember exactly if I saw The Way of All Flesh back around 1970 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I was taking a film appreciation class. I've seen the segment that has survived and it definitely rings a bell. In that case, I would be missing only two films.
Marcos, I honestly don't know what to think about your postings. First you misquote my comment, then you contradict yourself and now you talk yourself into believing that you've seen a movie when you've only seen a fragment.
Be that as it may, The Way Of All Flesh and The Patriot aren't the only lost movies with acting nominations. The Rogue Song is also lost although the film's soundtrack has survived.
Sue me but I think both "Zootopia", "Deadpool" and "Sausage Party" are going to clearly make my 2016's top 10 quite easily. Mind blown in three different directions... of course, with the exception of an Animated Feautre nom (no win) for "Zootopia", Oscars and general awards with take them with a grain of salt. "Sausage Party", I instantly put it in a sacred triumvirate with "The Poseidon Adventure" and "Monty Python's Life of Brian", of films that anyone interested with critical thinking of religion, should see. Despite its raunchyness, there's a lot of meat (pun intended) for thought, there, and some not so obvious commentary in the subtext. A raunchy animated movie that makes people THINK. Always welcomed. And not bad at all.
Also, under the radar but Bayona's giant film seems to be going to do better than Spielberg's giant film. The trailer indicates that it has Oscar potential in many aspects, and now that the BFG partially flopped on its way to the auditorium, Bayona's can get more attention. Let's see what happens, but this is a director in crash collision for an Oscar win in the future, as both "The Orphanage" and "The Impossible" shown already.
