I was so swept away by the bravura film-making and tight plotting I had to return to witness the cinematic purity again.
I'm such a movie addict that it happens pretty often. (Portland is a very affordable cinema city) ((I saw Blue is the Warmest Colour four times, Carol six times)).

The last movie I saw twice in theaters was Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and I went twice because I couldn't believe it was that damn good, and I had to make sure I wasn't blowing its greatness out of proportion. When we decry the lack of genre movies being recognized by the Academy in major categories, THIS should be example #1.
The last movie I saw twice in theaters was Birdman and I went twice because it's a stone-cold masterpiece, one of only two we've had this decade (ZD30 is the other).
The last movie I went to see twice was Gone Girl because I adored that reveal scene where Rosamund Pike/Amy explains what she's been up to. I also thought the sex scene was one of the most thrillingly edited, paced, scored sequences I saw that year, that I had to see it again. I recognize it's not a great film, and Pike's performance, an actress I adore, wasn't worth the hype, but dammit, was it a good time to be had at the movies.

Selma bc I had to bring a friend who is reluctant to go to the movies. I knew she would love it so I forced her to go after I had seen it.
Wow, that's really dating me. The last movie I saw twice in the movie theater was "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" because I thought it was one of the best love stories I'd ever seen (and still have ever seen). The idea that they would go to such great lengths to forget each other and then, when given solid evidence that they didn't work together, would still decide to try anyway just always makes me fee hopeful.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens because my brother-in-law invited me to see it a second time as he had never seen the new film.
Steve Jobs (four times, actually), because it was my favourite film last year and I couldn't get enough of it.
The Descendants because there was a hot boy willing who wanted to go so I went the second time. Can you blame me?
Spectre, because I see every new James Bond film at least twice in cinemas!
brookesboy: I'm afraid I saw Birdman twice (the second time on DVD) and it left me pretty much stone cold both times. I just don't get the praise for that movie. "Smells like balls" indeed.

The last movie I saw twice in theaters was Mad Max: Fury Road and I went twice because you sometimes have to go first by yourself, write a glowing review, force your friend to read said review who is on the fence, sit them down when they fail to answer a simple question about your review because they didn't actually read it, watch the light bulb go off in their head that yes it is that good, and then drive them to the movie theater to further convert non-believers.

The last movie I saw twice(three times actually) in theaters was mad Max: Fury Road and I went thrice because IT WAS FUCKING AMAZING. So weird and fresh and vital each and every time, my appreciation for its rich world and the complete confidence of its top to bottom craftsmanship increases with each viewing.

The last movie I saw twice in theatres was Inception because I was drowsy the first time and felt I had missed out on something. Seeing it a second time to clarify the blank spots was definitely worth it.
I really had to think about this one, but the last movie I saw twice in theaters was Birdman, because since I had just moved to NYC I got to see it before all my theater friends back home in CT and I knew they would love it just as much as I did, so I went with them. And I thought it held up really well on a second viewing.

I don't see movies in theaters all that often, so I think the last movie I saw twice in theaters was Titanic, because I was 11 and obsessed. It felt very grown up.
I think the second time I even crashed my parents' date night because I wanted to see it again so badly. It may be the nostalgia talking, but I think it holds up fairly well.
I don't think I've seen anything twice in theaters since "GO" in 1999 - back then I was actually a projectionist and could take friends for free when "off duty". "GO" is also the only movie I've ever seen three times in theaters.
