Tweetweek: Suicide Squad, Olympic Opening, Hamilton 4 Hillary,

It's that time again. But before we get to the tweets of the week, let's all be reminded that Lifetime will be remaking the movie Beaches. I keep forgetting this because why would anyone do this? And yet I love this casting pair idea...

Many more tweets to come after the jump with the new superhero movie and the actual superheroes of the Olympics as the main events...

OLYMPIC FEVER

THE BIG MOVIE OF THE MOMENT
Suicide Squad is expected to open with huge numbers. But will the numbers hold or collapse like Batman v Superman?

POLITICS
BECAUSE THE TOPIC IS QUITE UNAVOIDABLE FOR THE NEXT 90+ DAYS...

P.S.
Have I ever told you that I love Chris Crocker? I totally do.

Loved your foreign language Oscar parade of Nations on twitter!! :D

(PS: is it just me are a few of these twits doubled?)

Josh Oakley is an optimist maybe because he's mixing 2015 and 2016 releases.

Chris Crocker is doing an excellent Violet Weston!

Carlos -- i have no idea what happened with the coding. I edited 3 times to remove doubles and they kept reappearing elsewhere. Bizarre. I think it's fixed now.

and thank you. i had fun last night.

Peggy Sue -- those are actually all 2016 releases here in the States despite premiering elsewhere in 2015

James T -- whatever he's doing i love it.

I haven't even seen all of those movies Josh Oakley lists (some of which, like The Fits and Krisha, because they haven't been released near me), but I totally agree - this has been a great year for movies so far. Don't judge the year by studio releases!

I am in a way fortunate to only have time to see movies that I think will be interesting so I've avoided blockbusters this year and frankly the movies I've watched have been excellent... The Fits, Little Men, Embrace of the Serpent... Some of the best achievements in the field that I've seen in the last 5 years. I think Embrace of the Serpent has found its audience and Little Men will find its audience especially with the recent POTUS endorsement. The film that worries me a bit is The Fits. A really really good esthetically and conceptually unique little gem. I really hope people discover it on dvd or netflix or wherever and that the Spirit awards reward it and raise its profile because it is one of the best feminist efforts I have seen this decade.

The best about Olympics: Fernanda Montenegro reading a poem in Portuguese and DAME JUDI DENCH translating it to English.

I thought the Olympic Openings were just OK compared past ones.... however, one has to remember the country did not have the money other countries have had to put it on.

I loved the theme of the event and to watch Tom Brady's wife strut her stuff one last time was amazing.

I liked Gisele's moment and some of the staging but I thought it was weak in comparison to the previous Olympics from London and most of all, Beijing. Plus, I couldn't divorce myself from what is really going behind the scenes as I thought a lot of it was bullshit.

Amen to Craver's shout out to the Tongan flag bearer and Mike Doyle. Yum.

Every time I see that tweet about the Donald Trump caption I have to stop and admire its genius. Talk about brevity being the soul of wit.
