A First Look at the Season 9 Queens of RuPaul's Drag Race
Friday, February 3, 2017 at 8:00AM Chris here and can you believe it's already time to start your engines for a new season of RuPaul's Drag Race? That All Stars extravaganza truly spoiled us after a great season eight! But now meet the new set of queens to obsess over, and from this first glance season nine can already be called the return to fish - especially for the jawdropping Farrah Moan.

- Trinity Taylor (Orlando, FL)
- Valentina (Los Angeles, CA)
While this lineup lacks a certain diversity of styles and influences, each of these girls are instantly charming enough to bet on an entertaining season. The current standouts for me are the Almodóvar-referencing Valentina, polished and confident Alexis Michelle, and the coolly hilarious Shea Coulee. My heart so wants to root for brit Charlie Hides (who you can bank on taking Snatch Game), but a win for a comedy queen after Bob the Drag Queen seems like a lofty order. Almost as lofty as the wait we must endure until the show returns in March.

this day is always so exciting. i've already watched the intros twice but i still haven't picked favorites. so many queens that feel like they could go either way of being insufferable one note and just amazing.
I know Sasha Velour and I'm totally excited to watch her completely kick ass! She is an amazingly talented and super-stylin' drag queen.

Nathaniel - agreed. Especially concerned on the one-noteness of Kimora and Jaymes.
I'm also not sure how to feel about Eureka yet. Her interview had me laughing and then the joke died and she still kept going. Though her look is one of my favorites of this lineup.
Chris -- well my favorite at first glance is probably VALENTINA but that's only because she compared herself to an Almodóvar character. Cultural knowledge goes a long way for me. I tend to hate the queens that only know reality tv celebrities.
DAVID - the season has already been shot, so my guess is it will show up in the finale / season 10 :)
Charlie Hides, Alexis Michelle and Valentina seem very polished. Intrigued by Trinity, Eureka, Nina and Shea. Aja is Naomi Smalls. Jaymes looks extremely basic - my pick for first to go.
Hoping that this isn't too much of a comedown from AS2.
I've seen Aja live, and she is an amazing performer. Much more dynamic than Naomi Smalls, so she's someone I'd keep my eye on.
I did community theatre and went to college with Shea, so I will be wailing at the TV for her all season. She is INCREDIBLE.
Team Alexis simply because she hosted a Drag Race season at the bar I always go to to watch. But dang, New York is representing!
How is this cast not diverse...? Maybe you don't know much about them? Or is it the photoshoot with the color scheme? This is a great, eclectic group.
Farrah is not only gorgeous but super sweet. i have been a fan of hers fpe quite some time so she is my number1 pick followed by Valentina, Alexis Michelle, Charlie Hides and Trinity Taylor. i am intrigued by Aja, Kimora Blac and Jaymes Mansfield. Shea Coulee' seems really good too. the others i am not too sure about as i dont know much about them.
I agree that Farrah Moan is serving fish ( I love her name! ), but I'm also intrigued by Peppermint and Sasha Velour. Can't wait for the new season!

Mikenewq - delightful! I went to college with a NY queen who is doing quite well named Dusty Ray Bottoms and she's worked with Alexis, so I'm hoping the connection could help get her on next season
