Today's 5: Slim Shady and Bruce Almighty (among others)
Have you seen the newest picture of Mera (Amber Heard) from Aquaman? There it is to your left. This is remarkably colorful -- Poison Ivy in Batman & Robin level saturation on the color wheel -- though they'll surely fiddle with the color in post (sigh) since we can't have bright things. (Speaking of DC -- with Wonder Woman getting good advance buzz, should we be hopeful about Aquaman now?)
Anyway, Amber Heard was on the brain as one of today's curated 'anniversaries to use as mood boosters' today. Ready? Let's go...
May 23rd Anniversaries
2016 Amber Heard filed for divorce from Johnny Depp one year ago today.
In honor of this event: Take a step toward getting out of that toxic situation / relationship / job / whatever that's no good for you.
2004 The 57th annual Cannes Film Festival wraps up...
Fahrenheit 9/11 won the Palme d'Or at Cannes, the only documentary to win in our lifetime. The jury president was Quentin Tarantino that year and Kathleen Turner, Emmanuelle Béart, and Tilda Swinton all served on his jury. Actress heaven. Can you imagine?!
In their honor today: Discuss a doc with your friends
2003 Bruce Almighty opens in movie theaters
In its honor today: Strut around like you're invincible today.
1984 Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom opens in theaters, prompting calls for a stricter MPAA ratings system. That heart yanking scene was too much. How times have changed. Now parents have no issues with violence on television that used to get you an "R" at the movies.
In its honor today: Be adventurous at dinner. Order something you've never tried before.
1934 Bonnie and Clyde are ambushed and killed by police in Louisiana.
In their honor today: If you're wrapping something up, don't get lazy about the ending. Go out in a blaze of glory.

The Indiana Jones related "honor" really made me laugh. I needed it today, thanks.
"It was the first documentary to win that award since Jacques Cousteau's and Louis Malle's The Silent World in 1956." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fahrenheit_9/11#Palme_d.27Or
Fahrenheit 9/11 won the Palme d'Or at Cannes, the first and to date only documentary to win.
Kinda dumb to assume Depp was guilty. Heard has all the hallmarks of a gold digger.
Anyone who believes Amber Heard is an idiot. She's going out with Elon Musk. Doesn't this ring any alarm bells?
Tr -- i try never to assume anything about guilt or innocence but that doesn't change the fact that their relationship was clearly toxic no matter what the actual truth is.
V -- thank you. it's a relief to know some people actually read the posts, hoping to enjoy them :)
I'll also add that the Grand Prix winner at the 57th Cannes film festival was given to Oldboy, a movie more memorable and interesting than the Palme d'or winner, Fahrenheir 9/11 (awarding of which seems like more a political choice than an artistic one). Apparently Tarantino tried his best to persuade the jury to give the Palme to the former but couldn't convince enough jury members...too bad.
I really appreciate what you said about Amber Heard. It's really important to commend people for speaking up about something that statistically most people never get help for. Johnny Depp fanboys will say what they will, but I really appreciate what you said.
