I will NEVER EVER EVER forgive Halle Berry for what she did.

MICHELLE PFEIFFER FTW!!

June 1, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterNikhat

i found this odd at first, then i saw the year on this picture. Taken before catwoman came out. Makes sense.

June 1, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJoe

Nikhat,

I think you're being too hard on poor Halle Berry for Catwoman. It's not her fault the movie stunk, blame the director. Halle is always singled out for the failure of the movie and how bad it is, but she wasn't the producer, writer, or director and ultimately, they have to take the lion's share of the blame. Hell, Halle even won a Razzie Award for Worst Actress for Catwoman, and you know what? She actually went and accepted the award in person! In fact, she's the only Oscar winner to ever accept a Razzie personally - just goes to show that she's gracious and can take her fair share of professional ribbing.

I don't blame her for ruining Catwoman. I blame her for ruining Storm. That can't be forgiven.

June 1, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterRyan T.

Wrong. I believe Sandra Bullock showed up to accept her Razzie for ALL ABOUT STEVE same year she won Oscar for BLIND SIDE?

June 1, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJonie

Halle Berry did not ruin Catwoman.. I believe it was I who ruined Catwoman. :-(

June 1, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSHARON STONE

@Jonie,

I stand corrected then. Not really a Sandra Bullock fan, so she's not on my radar.

June 1, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterBlinking Cursor

Sharon, -- I believe there's enough badness in that movie to blame everyone. Let's be generous with the blaming!

June 1, 2011 | Registered CommenterNATHANIEL R

Halle was saying: I'm really sorry for what you're about to see. I am now going to lick you. Free of charge.
(Lick=cat cleaning. Not the other one. Jeez :p)

MICHELLE PFEIFFER'S CATWOMAN ABOVE EVERY ONE ELSE :D

"i am catwoman hear me roar"

"Saved by kitty litter"

"Life's a bitch now so am i"

cool photo though.

i think it's hard for anyone to ever trump Pfeiffer's Selena Kyle.Catwoman..just my humble opinion

That's actually circa 2002 at the SAG Awards where Halle won for Monster's Ball (yuc) and Michelle was nommed for White Oleander.

June 2, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterNicole

@Nicole: I distinctly recall Halle Berry's accepting her SAG for "Monster's Ball" in a white dress, so this picture may have indeed been taken in another year.

@Jazz: Almost everything Pfeiffer's Catwoman says is epic. One of my all-time favorite film performances.

June 2, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterTroy H

Nicole -- that's different years. Monster's Ball was a 2001 film and White Oleander a 2002 film. So this is January 2003 when Michelle was nominated. I'm guessing Halle was presenting, given that she's already won?

June 2, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterNathaniel R

Nat: I can't even say Stone's Razzie nom was at all justified. If they threw out Britney Spears and Condoleeza's nominations (I don't like them, but those should NOT have been allowed to happen) and ALSO nominated Alex Borstein (Honestly: Worst in Show) and Frances Conroy? That would still look slightly lazy (if there's a best in show relative to that movie, it's Stone), but not unconscionably stupid. If Condoleeza and Britney Spears were basically locked? The choice should have been between Conroy or Borstein, preferably Borstein, and Stone should have been on nowhere near enough ballots to make it that year.

Say what you want about Sharon Stone, she is probably our most fearless camp movie star. I can't think of anyone with less shame.

I wish she'd get the lead in a Lee Daniels movie as messy as The Paperboy. She has pulpy gifts and inclinations that have never gotten a worthy vehicle, aside from Basic Instinct.

It;s the 2003 SAG Awards, when Berry presented:

Hi, Nathaniel!

June 26, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterZ Jones

I did the fuckery!

June 26, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterQueen L.

Hayden-

Absolutely!!! I could've even seen Stone as Joan Crawford in FEUD. It's a shame Hollywood refuses to give her more to do than these D-movie Redbox titles.

June 26, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterDAVID

Ah, the year Pfeiffer *should've* won her (second?) Oscar. I'm eternally grateful that Pfeiffer (or Nicole Kidman, who also was cast after Ashley Judd/before Berry) didn't get stuck in this mess. Her Selina Kyle is perfect, preserved in amber (Batman Returns) for posterity.

Berry isn't blameless, y'all: she (mis)read the script, tried on the (ridiculous) costume, and brought that dreck to Oprah! At least Charlize Theron's and Kidman's post-Oscar $$$ grabs were intriguing propositions (Aeon Flux, The Stepford Wives) from interesting directors. Can you imagine if Berry had done Catwoman and Gigli, which she wisely turned down, back-to-back?! Quelle horreur.

I actually think Berry is mostly awesome in Monster's Ball, but what she did (and didn't do) with Storm is a cardinal sin. The woman clearly doesn't take the time to learn, understand, and appreciate comic book history and heroines that deserve TLC.

June 26, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterMareko

Singer is to blame for casting Berry as Stor. Berry is to blame for her limits as an actress

Pfeiffer is incredible gorgeous in that photo

June 26, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterManuel

It wasn't Halle's fault that Catwoman sucked. It was the studio, the director, the writers, and everyone else who made it suck. At least Halle accepted the Razzie and thanked Warner Brothers for putting her in such a piece-of-shit film.

June 26, 2017 | Unregistered Commenterthevoid99

Life is never fair, isn't it? Here we have an Oscar-winning, inconsistent actress posing with an Oscar-less but far superior one. What gives?

June 26, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterJans

Sharon Stone is fearless and fierce, totally underrated, she's just the best thing in bad movies ( her campy turn in Catwoman, her brilliant icy fun bitchy performance in Diabolique, her larger then life persona in BI2, etc), She manages to steal all the scenes in decent films ( superb in Intersection, emotional in The Mighty, intense in Last Dance, broken in When a Man Falls in the Forest, fragile in Bobby ) and put everybody in her pocket in great ones ( iconic in Basic Instinct, robbed an Oscar win for Casino, delightful in Broken Flowers). Just hope she'd work with directors like Tarantino, Inarritu, Von Trier...real filmakers. Though still looking forward to seeing her in Steven Soderbergh's Mosaic. as for Halle Berry, baaaadddd Storm ( although Jennifer Lawrence was an equally bad Mystique ....) , think she did what she could with Catwoman , but when the woman is good , she's great ( Monter's ball, Things we lost in the fire, Introducing Dorothy Dandridge); Watched Pfeiffer in The Wizard of Lies, ok film, great performance; getting bad vibes towards Orient Express (sniff), Where is Kyra looks stunning and Mother, well, let's not forget how Aronofsky used Winona Ryder in Black Swan ( wasting her ), just hope Michelle gets a meatier role but still think it's gonna be Jennifer Lawrence show (a la Portman).
