Her Oscar for The Imitation Game that I would retrieve from Patricia Arquette's house.
Justice for Anna Karenina!
That gif makes me wanna...
Matt -- a bold choice!
filmjunkie -- in what form?
Peggy -- lol. and also DM 😝
If Natalie, Keira and Scarlett had been "it girls" in the 2010s instead of the mid-2000s, they'd all have won Best Actress Oscars in a span of five years.
Michael Fassbendmeover
Three more starring roles in Joe Wright films.
But really that’s more of a gift for me.
Ugh, she is so good, albeit totally polarizing, in A Dangerous Method. Her scene with Fassy on the park bench late in the film is master class, and the one-two of A Dangerous Method and Anna Karenina (also underrated, performance-wise) was sublime.
Anyway, happy b-day, Ms. Knightley. Been a fan since you played a bad-ass footballer—and wore a bandana as a top—in Bend It Like Beckham.
Completely unrelated but I happened to rewatch Atonement last night and.. WOW. I know I was smitten with it when I watched it years ago but that film is masterful in ways I hadn't at all remembered. I'm not sure how else to put it, but that film is pure motion picture magic. Is this the general consensus? Most movies are lucky if they have one great memorable moment but this movie had multiple stunning heart-pounding sequences after another.
There was one aspect that I won't spoil here but did somewhat rub me the wrong way, particularly in this #metoo moment, but other wise I would say it's a modern masterpiece if ever there was one. I really have to dive into Keira Knightley's resume and reevaluate it. I wish James McAvoy would return to this sort of role/movie instead of all those action movies he seems to be doing a lot of recently. And of course, Saoirse Ronan is just a flat out acting genius. How was Joe Wright not nominated for Best Director?!
Just a cupcake and the hope she does more films like Begin Again. I liked her performance in Anna Karenina but the film was terrible.
BillyBob -- i love it. maybe we'll replace "Fassy" with that.
James from Ames -- and for me. A gift for all of us really. I mean I'd have been happy to see her try her hand at WINSTON CHURCHILL.
How about twenty or thirty generally spread pounds?
I was thinking about her recently. It seems she should have had at least one more Oscar nomination by now, doesn't it? Being the go to girl for period pieces helped Kate Winslet but maybe Oscar tastes have moved away from that. I do think she is an interesting actress- Pride and Prejudice is the high point so far for me- but unfortunately, she seems to constantly have to prove herself, that isn't just a pretty face and actually has talent. The Pirates movies have so ingrained her image as the damsel in distress and a bland actress that people can't see the talent beyond the Pirates trilogy. Out of all the principles involved she has had the more interesting career though. Depp is just sleepwalking through his films now.
Nat, to answer your original question—
I'd give Keira Knightley a great (original) sci-fi/fantasy role for her birthday.
And by sci-fi/fantasy I mean sci-fi.
One of our most underrated actresses. She was sublime in Never Let Me Go. Holding my breath that Colette will give her her third Oscar nomination.
