Mother Meryl in Big Little Lies 2
by Chris Feil.
The family that watches together stays together. Or maybe not in Monterey.
Tidbits of the second season of Big Little Lies are steadily arriving now that filming is underway. Now we have what we've really been craving: a glimpse of Meryl as Perry's mother. This docile family moment doesn't look like the fireworks we'd been promised by her arrival, but maybe this is just a decoy of sorts dropped by Nicole Kidman on her Instagram (a gift that keeps on giving). But what is the family watching? Are they rewatching season one like the rest of us surely will? Observing good parenting and indoctrinately these kids to The Hours as soon as possible? Reading our Months of Meryl as a bedtime story? Hmmm....

Please let everyone know that Brazil is unjustly arresting its most popular president, LUIZ INÁCIO LULA DA SILVA. Coup d'etat, happening TODAY.

Claiming ahead of you non-black gays that Crystal Fox will be a major "discovery" and breakout star of season two.
They are probably watching Meryl's past award speeches in preparation for her winning everything next year.
Meryl never fails how to surprise everyone. A lot pictured her as a true Diva already and then she sits there looking harmless.... there's definitely more on the surface. ;)
I like that her hair matches the grandkids, and that she looks so comfortable. Easy, breezy.
My hope for BLL2 is that the women keep a united front and do not turn on one another.
This is Prime (2005) Streep. Have a feeling she's going for Harriet Sansom Harris-in-Desperate Housewives sneakiness with this perf.
This grandma look is a bit deceiving and I love it.
Oh shit, this is going to be good.
I am 100% rooting for this and will 100% be watching... but I am nervous. The first season was so perfect and didn't demand more.
I forget if the show clarified if Perry was self-made or if he came from money. I can see Meryl's character being insanely wealthy and intimidating (like Elizabeth Perkins on GLOW).
It's really too bad that they couldn't cast Julianne as Nicole's sister or something. This photo would be even more iconic with her in this photo. A proper Holy Trinity reunion of The Hours.
Either way, Nicole and Meryl FINALLY acting opposite each other is such a gift. :')
Let's not forget this scene, whatever it entails, is being directed by none other than Andrea bloody Arnold! THAT is the real incredible thing about all of this. Streep finally working again with a filmmaker whose talents are immense and will hopefully keep her on her toes.
Streep is always on her toes!
