Hot take: Shark Tale is more entertaining than Finding Nemo.

Is TFE team going to give any reactions on Sharp objects new trailer and premiere yesterday at atx tv festival? Twitter reactions and variety's review are promising, I'm curious to know what you guys think about it.

Who are the five people who asked for another Legally Blonde sequel?

Does there need to be a Tony category for original song when there already is one for score, which includes all original lyrics and music?

I think the third Alien movie is unfairly maligned, as there is much to appreciate there -- at least from what I can recall.

Can we all talk about the ultimate Scream Queen and all round fabulous comedienne JLC'S return to the Halloween franchise,Trailer today..

Nat: Depends how tall that list is. Top 10? None. Top 20? None. Top 50? Still none. Full hundred? 2 or 3 (Singin' in the Rain, Spinal Tap and MAYBE Almost Famous if you stretch), but 2 of those are performance musicals and one is a stretch even with that. Graded A or higher? (About 250 movies.) 3 or 4 (add Moulin Rouge!). Musicals really aren't my genre (my genre preferences are action and horror, honestly and my (general) problems with musicals should be pretty evident with 1 or 2 of the 2 or 3 musicals in my personal top 100 being performance musicals), but I still have some on there.

As for Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne: Okay, I'm coming in on this as a BIG fan of the Avengers: EMH version of Janet Van Dyne and...yeah, the only reason this is Michelle Pfeiffer and not someone more fitting in with that is because they wanted to work with Michelle Pfeiffer. (Sorry, never really been on board with this casting. Even legends aren't right for everything, and Pfeiffer, personally, wasn't really right for this.) Better fits? Lily Tomlin. Julianne Moore. Minnie Driver. Sandra Bullock.

Um, above poster, you forgot Cabaret!

June 8, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterBrad

I heard the original choice was Sharon Stone for Janet.

Lily Tomlin is my real-life super hero, but I just can't see her in a comic book movie-- or as the wife of Michael Douglas.

I was curious to see what Sharon Stone would do with the Janet Van Dyne part.

That said, Michelle Pfeiffer can do anything.

markgordonuk & Biggs: Would not entirely have been on board for Sharon Stone either. But, yeah, I'm thinking in terms of pre-conceptions based around an excellent, recent-ish, adaptation of the character and casting for "that, but 50+" as opposed to casting for "Wife of Michael Douglas." If this is a conscious inversion of her usual persona, I'll admit being wrong to be disappointed, but that character poster doesn't convince me that Marvel isn't just asking Michelle Pfeiffer to be Michelle Pfeiffer.

The vibe I'm getting from this post and its comments today: Musicals are the Anne Hathaway of movie genres (because they're actually amazing and unfairly maligned.)

Nathaniel should do a post on the top 25 movie musical performances. Or has he already?

No one should diss Queen Anne. Do that and I'll make sure all haters will be given the Rock Bottom from the Queen and then... have her do the Queen's elbow.

Brad: A-. Yes, Cabaret is (absolutely) pretty great (and I can get people who are more into musicals giving it that third of a letter grade extra), but, as I said, musicals aren't really my genre. So, it takes a little more than Cabaret to pierce my hide.

In which world is it wrong to have Michelle Pfeiffer being Michelle Pfeiffer? #pforeverpfeiffer

Not that we needed any further proof but that Snatch game tweet just underscores why Chris Feil is the best addition to this site ever. Nat, I hope you realize how much you've hit the jackpot with him. :)

P.S. Nick is hours concours

Are we over the Hathahate at this point? Can we all just say she's great? I always think of that Key & Peele sketch where Key's valet attendant is upset about people hating on her.

Presciently, they said that "Bullockses" and "Hathaways" should be in a movie together.
