CBS Olivia Newton John, our beloved child hero, is battling cancer for the third time. It's stage four this time but she's determined to outlive the statistics.
MNPP Jake Picking cast as young Rock Hudson in Ryan Murphy's upcoming series Hollywood (which takes place in the 1940s). Exactly how many series does Murphy launch at any one time? No wonder people say The Politician is a mess.

Cartoon Brew thinks The Last Fiction will become the first Iranian animated feature to qualify for the Oscar race... but didn't Persepolis do that already? Or is that movie considered too French to be Iranian despite its topic/ancestry?
Cartoon Brew another film that is vying for that unofficial "foreign" slot in the Animated Feature race is the French film I Lost My Body which will stream on Netflix soon. Dev Patel voices the lead in the English language dub.

oh I wanna watch the movie now after seeing the three of them in this interview! And I hope ONJ pulls through. My heart goes out to her.
The Skin I live in is a true and complete masterpiece and one of my fave horror films of all time.. Banderas should have won the Oscar for that one, as lead. Time this year to fix that? I am confident he can win the golden boy next winter.
Oh man, The Politician is excellent what are you talking about?! It’s some of Ryan’s best work, campy and fun and insane and suuuuuper funny!
Ozzie -- interesting. all i've heard on twitter is "unwatchable"
The Politician is not a mess. It's very watchable.
oof, I watched the first episode and could barely get through it -- a mess indeed. But I'll give it a few more episodes...I'm generally a Murphy fan!
Jessye Norman - God bless her and welcome her in Heaven with Beethoven music played by angels. Finally she'll meet the masters whose music she's helped popularize for people like me who have always thought that "classical music" is music for weddings, funerals or snobs. In my "always watching" playlist I have Spirituals in Concert with Jessye and the also wonderful Kathleen Battle. Their duet in "Scandalize My Name" is a scandal of magnificence. God bless her, her soul and her voice.
You don't get Kylie unless you have Olivia first,Hope she fights the odds that are against her.
@Feline Justice -- right on about Spirituals in Concert with Jessye and Kathleen Battle. The whole programming of the songs of that concert was just flat-out amazing (James Levine's idea or the 2 sopranos?).
And Jessye Norman, what can I say? I can still remember the first time I heard her sing in a recital in Notre Dame -- that voice, those songs! And her "Four Last Songs" has got to be one of the most definitive performances in the recording history. That force of nature of a voice kills me softly each time. Even when she's singing songs not equal to her talents just like Faster, Higher, Stronger during the closing ceremonies of the 1996 Olympics was itself Olympian gold!
"The skin i live in "... a bad copy of "les yeux sans visage " maestro Georges Franju . Almodóvar so overrated ... painful .

The Politician is watchable. It's not good, but it's very watchable.
I'm on Team "The Politician is Watchable AND a Mess". By the end I liked it, but it's beyond confused - characters appear and disappear, plots dead-end, there are very few jokes but it's also hard to take seriously. I finished the season and have very little idea what they think they're getting at.
AHS/Glee/Pose/Scream Queens/American Crime Story fans need to retire the word "campy."
Those projects are made on an assembly line. If by "campy" you mean "making desperate and determined gestures toward camp," sure. But irony? Spontanaeity? FX is where camp goes to die.
The Politician is messy but endlessly watchable. Shouldn’t be taken too seriously. Ben Platt is amazing in it and the character named River is super gorgeous (which definitely adds to its watchability).
The Politician is what you'd get if you ran all of Murphy's body of work through an AI and asked it to produce a show. It's stylish nonsense with no consistent tone, illogical plotting, fascination with wealth that borders on fetish, and a meandering focus. But the finale is basically the first episode of the second season, and it promises Judith Light as a NY state senator in a threeway relationship and Bette Midler as her chief of staff, so I guess I'm in for that.
FUCK CANCER!!!!!!! I hope Olivia Newton-John kicks it ass again.
In "The Skin That I Live In" is a complex mess- yes it does have horror movie elements- and yes it does pay homage to "Eyes with out a Face" and other mad doctor films. Banderas does give a great performance
oh, olivia! hold me, nathaniel
Thanks so much for the link!
You ARE "Magic", Olivia! Hold on! #FUCKCANCER
