Disney's schedule for the next... four years? er, okay.

Emily Blunt and The Rock in "Jungle Cruise" If you thought Disney was slowing down theatrical to focus on putting Disney+ over, think again. I'm not sure how legit this information is because I've only seen it on twitter but it comees from a Buzzfeed editor with a "verified" check so perhaps. Weird that there hasn't been major trade coverage at this writing but here we go. Supposedly Disney has released their schedule for the next 4 years (what?) though one must view the titles and dates with a healthy dose of skepticism since, for example, Avatar sequels are pure illusions and the world will surely end before we get them. Also though there are a few Fox Searchlight titles listed that mini wing's releases are always decided much later since they regularly pick up films from festivals that they think have awards potentials and so you never know about those in advance. Okay the list goes like so...

2020
1/10 Underwater (Fox) -action starring Kristen Stewart
2/21 Call of the Wild (Fox) - animated
2/28 Wendy (Fox Searchlight) Benh Zeitlin's first movie since Beasts of the Southern Wild 8 years ago
3/6 Onward (Pixar) - animated

3/27 Mulan (Disney) -live action remake
4/3 The New Mutants (Fox) - long delayed superhero movie
4/17 Antlers (Fox Searchlight) - horror
5/1 Black Widow (Marvel) - Scarlett Johansson finally gets her solo adventure
5/29 Artemis Fowl (Disney) -fantasy
6/19 Soul (Pixar) - animated
7/3 Free Guy (Fox) - action comedy starring Ryan Reynolds
7/24 Jungle Cruise (Disney) - adventure starring The Rock and Emily Blunt

9/18 The King's Man (Fox) - sequel
10/9 Death on the Nile (Fox) - remake/sequel
10/23 Everybody's Talking About Jamie (Fox) -stage musical adaptation

11/6 The Eternals (Marvel) - superheroes
11/13 Deep Water (Fox) - Adrian Lyne's first steamy thriller in years and first movie since Unfaithful (2002). Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas star
11/25 Raya and the Last Dragon - animated
12/18 West Side Story (Fox) - movie musical remake
12/25 The Last Duel (limited) - Ridley Scott directs besties Damon & Affleck in a period drama

After 2020 it all starts to get a bit silly with lots of untitled date claiming. But 2021 has some films of course since they're going to have to start shooting soon.

So odd that there's no UNTITLED STAR WARS FILM. I guess they're waiting until after EPISODE 9 to decide on that one.

I don't even understand why Disney feel the need to announce such an extendive schedule do far in advance. It's like a school announcing the topic of every class for three years or a restaurant announcing every menu. In all cases, it makes me feel sick!

That's a lot of product. Ew.

what are we to make of the fact that Wendy is being released with little fanfare? I assume it will play Sundance, but it's not doing the festival circuit?
