What does this tagline even mean?
While searching for showbiz anniversaries on this day, I came across the Tony Randall / Janet Leigh movie Hello, Down There which was released 50 years ago on this very day. But the tagline threw off the rest of my research so it's the only "today in showbiz history" factoid you get this morning.
A combo of scuba dupes rock up a storm in a mad pad under the surf!
WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN? Is it in English? I recognize the individual words but can't comprehend their meaning as a sentence. Was it a mad-libs of common late '60s vernacular?
If you've seen this movie or even if you haven't and would like to try, please decipher for us.

I have absolutely seen that movie. Does it spoil the fun if I give the real answer too soon? Check the trailer on youtube, because it also co-stars Charlotte Rae and a young Richard Dreyfuss.
omg I am just now remembering seeing this in a movie theater as a young child! (I was born in the early 60's). I also remember really liking it, but I have no recollection of any of the plot whatsoever. Thanks for this little trip down (dim) memory lane!
If I remember correctly...its been a lloonngg time...Tony is some sort of scientist and he and Janet (and their kids I think) go to live in an underwater pod for a year. The film is silliness itself but I love Tony Randall so it was at least pleasant silliness.
Up until now I always considered Day of the Dolphin to have the greatest tagline in history. But this is a strong competitor.
LOL - I actually own this movie on DVD - lots of fun!!
This pairs great with a double-feature of The Incredible Mr. Limpet w/Don Knotts! :-)
It's hard for me to process the tagline when I'm still laughing so hard at the movie's title.
The only word that is confusing is "dupes" but it must have something to do with the plot. But what's this about Merv Griffin?
