Weekly Trivia

Hey folks. Michael Cusumano here. We had a great time at last week's trivia match and I though I would drop in and give you a sample. Last week we had rounds focused on Cate Blanchett and an audio round on Oscar nominated scores of the 2010's plus the general knowledge round we do every week. The round was one minute per question. Let me know how you would have done in the comments (No Googling. Duh.)

Every winning team gets to choose a round topic for next week's match, and I'm pleased to report 5/21 champs TEAM PEACH chose LGBT Movies/characters/actors nominated for Oscars for this Thursday's game.

So brush up on that topic if you want a chance at the crown!

To play in this week's game: The event is held every Thursday at 7:30 PM EST on Zoom and runs approximately 2 hours. It’s $5 per person payable through Venmo or PayPal. Send a team name along with the payment and I will reply with the ZOOM information. You can include your contact information in a comment along with the PayPal or Venmo payment or contact me one of these ways:

Thanks for these.

1. Yes, it's Shutter Island (if by feature films it means narrative features, rather than music documentaries).
4. I think it's just two: THX-1138 and American Graffiti.
6. Does The Equalizer count?
7. Orange?
8. Orca.

Not sure about the others, alas..

No fully correct answers on 5, 6 or 10 yet.

Correct answers so far:

1. Shutter Island is correct (I specified non-docs during the round)
2. Armadillo,
3. Brevity got it and with the correct spelling too, Wyld Stallyns (I'd have accepted Wild Stallions)
4. 2 is correct.
5.
6.The Equalizer doesn't count. Preacher's Wife is one possible answer. The other three are up for grabs
7.Orange
8. Orca
9. Billy Zane
10.

Just noticed that Pedro correctly named Pelham for question 6. that's two out of four down for that question

6. What's the name of the Tony Scott thriller with Denzel about a train (but not Pelham)? I think that was a remake too. Think it got a Sound Editing nomination. Unstoppable? Is it a remake of Runaway Train? Or am I thinking of something that doesn't exist?!
10. Is it It's Complicated?

May 27, 2020 | Unregistered CommenterEdward L.

5. Red, White and Blaine - love that movie!
10. the Intern

May 27, 2020 | Unregistered CommenterChris

6. The Magnificent Seven

May 27, 2020 | Unregistered CommenterChris

Edward - Runaway Train was the original title of Unstoppable. It's loosely based on a real incident.

5. Red White and Blaine is correct
10. The Intern is correct

Still missing one Denzel remake. So far we got Magnificent 7, Pelham and The Preacher's Wife
