FYC Outstanding Main Title Design

by Nathaniel R

Will Hollywood get nominated for its storytelling symbolic use of the iconic sign?

142 shows will be competing for the nominations in main title design. You know, those parts of a show that Netflix lets you ignore with the "Skip Intro" button. It is our humble opinion that the title design is part of the show and should never be skipped. It sets the mood like, say, and overture would for a musical. One of the reasons we like this Emmy category is that shows don't tend to stay eligible year after year after year. Generally it's only the first season though shows which significantly alter their opening imagery can compete again -- i was surprised to see Succession in the list again.

Which main title designs did you love this year? Here are 15 random intros from those 142 that could find their names called...

Defending Jacob

Hunters

Legendary

Locke & Key

Motherhood: Fort Salem

Mrs America

The New Pope

The Hunters intro is brilliant. and Mrs. America is so clever and sets the tone well.

I love the Picard intro, especially since it’s finally different from the Next Generation.

One of my favorites is “The Good Fight” but, four seasons in, it’s not eligible.

"Mrs America" should have this in the bag. Its Title Design is perfect!

I know you love this category. I also don't understand why Succession is eligible again. I do love Hunters and Why Women Kill here, and Star Trek: Picard is also a great choice.

In a related category, I demand Mariah Carey be nominated for the theme
Song of “Mixed-ish!”

I never skip intros! And that's doubly true if it has an awesome song like with THE NEW POPE.

Yeah, The New Pope’s, in its variations, stands out to me.

@Abe --- Succession's Main Titles for season 2 had a few changes. New "home video" shots. Do notice that the first season titles mostly feature the father and son imagery. In season 2, the other children (most noticeably Shiv) is included in the home video shots.

The “Hollywood” intro is amazing! Wish the whole series was as good as its opening.

I’d love to see The Politician pop up here. It’s definitely Westworld (season 1) inspired but still feels wholly it’s own and is quite stirring and evocative of perhaps a more insightful show.

Mrs. America's was SO CATCHY!
