Happy Halloween!
We're laying low today but will surely pick something scary to watch tonight. If you need something frightening to think about to get you in the holiday mood, though, imagine Jared Leto winning a second Oscar when...
Amy Adams, Angela Bassett, Annette Bening, Emily Blunt, Glenn Close, Bradley Cooper, Toni Collette, Kirsten Dunst, Willem Dafoe, Michael Fassbender, Ralph Fiennes, Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Jake Gyllenhaal, Woody Harrelson, Ed Harris, Laura Linney, Ewan McGregor, Sir Ian McKellen, Viggo Mortensen, Bill Murray, Michelle Pfeiffer, Saoirse Ronan, Imelda Staunton, Michelle Williams
... still don't even have one!

I really hope Jared Leto doesn't win another Oscar as he's become a joke now. I do however hope that Lady Gaga gets nominated as I really like-a the accent as it has-a-me wanting to-a speak-a Italiano.
That is a list of working actors who can reasonably win an Oscar or honorary lifetime achievement Oscar.
I mourn those who are gone without the prize - Thelma Ritter, Richard Burton, Marilyn Monroe, Montgomery Clift, Guilietta Masina, Claude Rains, Gloria Swanson, Natalie Wood, James Dean, Marcello Mastroianni, Eleanor Parker, Max Von Sydow . . .
Jared Leto getting his second Oscar isn't nearly as hideous as Will Smith getting his first.
"He's become a joke," "hideous" ... the way we speak about people we've never met lolll. Ah, celebrity / internet culture is fascinating. :)
I would love to see Toni Collette and Angela Bassett earn their second nominations.
Glenn Close not having an Oscar is upsetting, but honestly Olivia Colman really deserved it. And they were never going to give it to her for Hillbilly Elegy for obvious political reasons. I hope the whole Sunset Boulevard fantasy comes true one day.
Manifesting Kirsten Dunst's first Oscar nod (or win, shit...). I don't even need to see the movie to say that. She's deserving, period.
Would love to see Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams win... same night, too. A Blue Valentine reunion! lol.
And that's only people mentioned here...don't get me started...
Lady Gaga isn’t winning with that accent.
Also just thinking.. is there a more renowned/respected/prolific director as Ridley Scott without a singular visual style? I feel like with Fincher, Anderson (either), Allen, Spielberg, etc you can tell it’s a film of theirs within 30 seconds. Ridley Scott, I got nothing.
That trailer is intended to spotlight Pacino (and Gaga), and it's interesting that Pacino is listed before Leto on the MGM FYC site. I think they're giving Pacino a bigger push, though given Leto's make-up job, he may still get the nomination.
i keep trying to block out that year when everyone pretended McConaughey and Leto were great in that movie when they were...just...okay.
i'd personally add jennifer jason leigh onto the top of that oscarless list as well...
I see Harrison Ford as an honorary award winner. He has a nomination and made a lot of money for a lot of people, but was never truly seen as an artist or great actor. He is a prime candidate for the honorary even in a few years from now.
Angela Bassett needs one really good supporting role and the win is hers. She has been in the business forever and has lots of respect.
Michelle Williams is the same. Maybe the Spielberg movie that comes out next year.
Sigourney Weaver says Hi.
The fact that Frances McDormand has three (leading) Oscars is the bigger head-scratcher to me, but carry on...
I'm going to add salt to the injury.
Maribel Verdú: Amantes, La Buena Estrella, Y tu mamá también and Pan's Labyrinth as robbed wins (check out those films, if you don't believe me)
Carmen Maura: Law of Desire, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Ay Carmela and Volver... another 4 snubbed wins
Javier Cámara: Talk to Her and Bad Education... another 2 snubbed wins
Antonio Banderas: Law of Desire, Tie me up Tie me down, The Skin I live in, Pain & Glory (at least he was nominated for this one!)
Or Americans?
John Travolta: should've won for Saturday Night Fever, Pulp Fiction, Get Shorty and Hairspray. Should've been nominatd for Grease, Blow Out, Swordfish (that opening monologue!), She's so lovely, Primary Colors and A Civil Action. Only nominated twice!
Jared Leto is a good actor, but yes, I agree, a 2nd would be too much, now. Funny how we're focusing on Leto winning a 2nd when Frances McDormand could win her 4th (and 2nd back-to-back) this year.

I would also add William Wyler to this statement.
I will never get over that Albert Finney never won or was given an honorary Oscar. And Marsha Mason needs an Academy Award.
I am loving the buzz for Gaga.
