OH THAT ACCENT, NICOLE. I love.

June 11, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterChris (the other one)

The book was extremely disappointing. I hope they fix it because that cast is too good to waste on such a rubbish story (well, the ending really) and I say that as a fan of Liane Moriarty’s earlier work.

June 11, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterMorganB

Nicole is hunting, but I really want to see this because of Melissa McCarthy and Regina Hall.

June 11, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterJ

This cast is amazing. I hope it has some funny moments because they have three good comedic actors in there in Hall, Jacinto, and McCarthy.

June 11, 2021 | Unregistered Commentermadeofstars

that cast is an automatic YES

but the fact that this is airing in summer makes me a little bit skeptical, but we'll see

June 11, 2021 | Unregistered Commentereduardo

HELL YES.

What a cast!

June 11, 2021 | Unregistered Commenterthefilmjunkie

There’s a hot pony-tailed guy hovering around the edges of many scenes of the trailer. I rewatched and realized: Manny Jacinto! He’s not only incredibly sexy but was such a talent on “The Good Place.” Sure, the main cast is stacked as many others have noted. But I’ll be tuning in for Manny, too!

June 11, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterRV

She is giving me STEPFORD WIVES hammy vibes. So terrible. Laughable.

June 11, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterAndre

Yup, the cast is awesome, but I'm all about Manny Jacinto here.

June 12, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterRyan T.

André, funny you should mention "The Stepford Wives." Nanette Newman ("I'll just die if I don't get this recipe.") in the original, recently turned 87. For Nicole - Yes Yes for me.

June 12, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterAnthony

I'm maybe. I like the cast, but those rich pampered people are a little much for me.

June 12, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterLadyEdith

I love nicole but the undoing was SO BAD, I’m worried about this.

June 12, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterJohn

Samara Weaving: "We're not in a good place."

Manny Jacinto: "Actually..."

June 12, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterBrevity

If she lets her face rest untouched for 5-10 years she could win an Oscar for playing a regular human being.

June 12, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterJocelyn

this book was so good, excited for this. Masha is a terrific role for Kidman.

June 12, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterSean Casey

Well, BLL was great (first season) & The Undoing was bad, guess this one hopefully falls in the middle. The cast is obviously tempting , I'll watch it for them but don't have high hopes. And Nicole should stop her "whispering lines acting method" it was annoying in The Undoing and looks bad here as well also her never aging face is getting distracting. I mean, Cher distracting.

June 12, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterEder Arcas

Nicole is giving me everything. Big yes.

June 12, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterV.

Have read all of the authors."s books... this one lest me cold.

I know this is Nicole 's domain, but I find in this short clip her usual blandness.

II know she has been nominated for awards for The Undoing, but I also found her very disengaging. Her coat got more publicity than anything..

I do not get Hulu so will have to wait if I want to ever see its.

June 12, 2021 | Unregistered Commenterrdf

Eder and others are right about Nicole's face. She will be smart or the issue will only be ignored by delusional fans. Either way the future holds Nicole being wise with her face or we'll see whether Nathaniel is liking Nicole on merit or as some niche contrarian. Nicole being so prominent yet the weakest in the trailer is concerning, but the casr is so stacked that it's a yes.

June 12, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterPedro

@ Pedro - OH GURRRRL. You MUST be new here. Nat has been in Nicole's corner since 2001, since MOULIN ROUGE! Like even if his love for her was a recent thing, "contrarian" is NOT the word I'd use to describe Nat.

June 13, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterChris (the other one)

Chris sorry you misunderstood. I'm not great at English and thought i put hypothetical tenses on the final statements. To clarify i meant contrariam if the future holds her distracting face spoiling otherwise good performances and Nathaniel stilp fawning over her thus revealing it's a non critical fact ignoring ride or die, look how loyal, i love her more than you guys! Sort of thing. Sorry I wasn't clear and caused you to misinterpret my comment badly.

I am familiar with Nathaniel's Kidman, Pffeifer, etc. Stan history due to reading casually for years, but like most I imagine becoming daily (multiple times actually) viewer of the blog since Claudio's arrival and possibly even when he goes on to bigger and better things. Mucho love to you.

June 13, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterPedro

I am baffled at how insanely insensitive and sexist some of these comments are under the guise of candor and genuine worry.

June 13, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterRizz

Like everyone else, I love this cast - Melissa McCarthy is one of the best working actresses but she definitely needs better projects (a high-profile limited series is a good start). Regina Hall and Bobby Cannavale are underrated. Manny Jacinto could be a rising star. But I am afraid this will be bad. Big Little Lies Season 2 was disappointing, but still very entertaining. The Undoing was barely watchable. This could continue the slide.

(As a side note, I think it's odd that Winslet possibly gave one of the great performances of her long career in Mare of Easttown, and it went uncovered here. I'm not even a Winslet fan, but I thought that performance was the best performance I've seen from an actress in the past 18 months. But oh well.)

June 13, 2021 | Unregistered Commenterjules

@Rizz - Agreed with your comment. Some of the comments are really baffling; I thought we are past these kind of comments but I guess not.

As a Kidman fan, I hope this will be better than The Undoing. The ensemble cast is pretty eclectic and it seems everybody have interesting storylines.

On side note, I don't understand how The Undoing is nominated for awards although I think it will miss at the Emmys including Kidman herself. If it's nominated; it is more problem with the industry fawning over big hits rather than voting for better shows.

June 13, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterDrew

Mare of Easttown is a huge success and Kate Winslet's performance is outstanding ? Why isn't anybody on the site covering it ?

June 13, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterDl

I understand where Rizz and such are coming from, but the other comments are just being frank about their enjoyment of an Actor's strange visual choices in a visual medium. Since they have validity your comments, though unintentionally so, come off as virtue signalling. It's easier to allow others to just say their piece because tour comments are just as easy to find fault with if a commenter wants to read another's in bad faith.

June 13, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterLogic

Chris & Pedro -- Chris, while i appreciate people coming to my defense sometimes it's uncessary. Whenever people try to tear me down because of something they're projecting, like Pedro here, i'm pretty good about letting it slide. I've never fawned without the inability to analyze work. I've even said when Pfeiffer was bad in things (and heard about it from angry fellow pfans) It just isn't in my nature to pretend an actor's great when they're not. Nicole was bad in The Undoing and I never said otherwise. I hope she's great in this but it's also in my nature to be loyal and I love Kidman and always will. it's interesting that people call me a Streep hater because of this very same thing. I don't think she's given a truly great performance in quite a long while but I will always love her. Despite that love i'm not going to pretend she has deserved any nominations since The Devil Wears Prada (though she came close to deserving a couple of times).

Dl -- we're working on a piece about it. But yes, we should have covered it episode by episode.

It's like that really weird comment a few months ago when someone said they wish i would stop s***ing Ryan Murphy's dick on this site. I LOLed rather than taking offense because that's. just bizarre projection as I've basically complained about Murphy's lack of talent for years. The only one of his projects we covered extensively in the past handful of years was FEUD and HOLLYWOOD and that was only because of the subject matter. Ratched was straight up garbage so we didn't cover it like we planned. The point is: people gonna project what they want to project.

Rizz & Drew -- i too am frustrated that people are making derogatory comments about Nicole's face again. For awhile it seemed like people were actually looking at her work again instead of making comments about her face but now we're back to it (sigh).

Great post! I didn’t knowral of these resources and I’m going to go check them out now! krunker

June 14, 2021 | Unregistered Commentermayrosie

Nathaniel has hardly fawned over everything Kidman has done. It's weird that people think that happens when it doesn't. What's far more predictable is that every post about a Kidman project will bring out the SAME posters expressing the SAME things they dislike about her, again and again.

June 14, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterJack

@Logic - have you read the comments?

If she lets her face rest untouched for 5-10 years she could win an Oscar for playing a regular human being.

Also, when is talking about someone’s face justifiable, no matter what line of work they are in. That is just absurd. We need to stop justifying vitriol
