74th Cannes. Red Carpet from Days 1-3
by Nathaniel R
We already covered opening night fashion so let's check in on days 2 and 3. Unfortunately we can't be as comprehensive as we once were in previous years. We used to live on the site Zimbio when they released enormous day-by-day galleries including basically every celebrity, whether they were famous internationally or not and every red carpet shot, whether or not it was a particularly good one including non-glam people like old film directors. They've done away with that section and now you have to look for specific people (so you have to magically know who might have attended each screening). Otherwise you can only see highlights (like every other site) which means you see the same very famous celebrities over and over again. And you lose some of the coolest sightings of rising stars or obscure stars from various countries who are not that famous outside of their home country. Which sucks for internationally minded cinephiles like us... Ah well. On to the red carpet premiere lewks we did see...
Who gets your vote for best dressed from the first few days?
I'm partial to Andie MacDowell's elegance in white, Melanie Laurent's chic pantsuit, and Maggie Gyllenhaal in deep red.
But sometimes the best looks are reserved for off-premiere such as press events or the various parties, like so...
Tilda's eye ribbon (?) sure is attention grabbing as are Jodie Turner-Smith bold diagonals via Gucci.

Isabelle Huppert looks smashing.
Huppert is such a rock star, but Jodie Turner Smith gets the gold from me. I love her bold choices and she's so damn REGAL!
I though I was the only one who would pick Isabelle Huppert as best dressed hahaha I just find it hipnotic
MJ Rodriguez
Paz Vega
Isabelle Huppert - badass
Cool shades that Isabelle Huppert yet Maggie in that red dress. WHOA!!!!!!!
Paz Vega... CALIENTE!!!! I am totally digging the gray-haired look that Andie MacDowell is sporting. It makes her much more elegant and graceful.
Jodie Turner Smith, Abigail Breslin, Elsa Zylberstein, Diane Kruger, Melanie Laurent, and Marion Cotillard are bringing it. I don't want anyone body-shaming Abigail Breslin. I think she looks beautiful.
thevoid -- are people bodyshaming her? That's too bad. It's interesting you allude to that though because the dresses cut kind of reminded me of something green Kate Winslet wore back in the days when people used to complain about her weight (in the era where it was regular for actresses to look unhealthily thin but Kate was just being her own gorgeous thing, trends be damned.
i forgot to mention that i like that whimsical floral headdress that Haley Lu is sporting. So fun and old school.
It’s the current and the former Mrs. Joshua Jackson, side by side, for me, TFE. Both look stunning and 100% movie-star glamour. Divine.
Mareko -- Joshua Jackson is a lucky man.
I think Breslin looks the best. It's a blend of stylish and sexy and the color looks very good on her. I hope she gets some adult roles in her near future.
Diane Kruger wears another dull black dress. Abigail Breslin looks great. Isabelle Huppert looks like a nun with a too-tight habit. Maggie Gyllenhaal looks fabulous. MJ Rodriguez looks fantastic. Tilda loves those all emcompassing dresses; her hair ribbon is classic Tilda. Marion Cottilard looks like she's going shopping downtown.
Melanie Laurent looks HAAWWWT!
No idea who Paz Vega but she gets my vote n
Swinton looks amazing as usual. I love that Andie MacDowell went grey and Melanie Laurent wore a pantsuit.
I love the elegance and the flow of Andie MacDowell's dress and it looks beautiful with her hair.
And I think Paz Vega also looks stunning.
