St Louis, Dallas, Utah and more enter the multiverse of "All At Once"

Two non-location based groups, The Women's Film Critics Circle and The Online Association of Female Film Critics, have now named their "best of 2022". And fFive more regional critics groups have announced their winners with Dallas-Forth Worth, St Louis, Utah, Philadelphia, and Indiana chiming in. Ke Huy Quan and Everything Everywhere All At Once won at all of these organizations that have the traditional categories of Supporting Actor and Best Film. (Women's Film Critics Circle does not have traditional categories and instead focuses on depictions of women onscreen with She Said taking their top prize.) PHILADELPHIA FILM CRITICS CIRCLE (PFCC)
Philadelphia was super into RRR giving it three prizes (Score, Cinematography, and Foreign Film). They also gave that rare breakthrough filmmaker/debut prize to someone other than Charlotte Wells (a shock for this particular season!)

UTAH FILM CRITICS ASSOCIATION (UFCA)
The UFCA wins the "overkill" prize. Not only did they give Everything Everywhere All At Once three of their four main acting prizes but they also gave it two additional acting prizes (Ensemble & Performance in a Fantasy film, doubling up on some Ke Huy Quan). The Daniels film won 10 of their prizes in total.

SPECIAL MERIT: Jafar Panahi - For the courage of the imprisoned Iranian director and all film professionals confronting political oppression in the pursuit of free speech, human rights, and artistic expression.
SPECIAL MERIT: Ashley Judd - For the bravery she demonstrated in portraying herself in She Said.
SPECIAL MERIT: David Bowie - For the expansive and continuing cinematic presence of the singer-songwriter and actor, whose life and music continues to permeate and enrich the cinema landscape.
And finally two non-regional critics groups, the Women Film Critics Circle and the Online Association of Femalee Film Critics have also announced their prizes. They have some overlapping members of course but they have very different categories, with the OAFFC having the usual sort of categories and the WFCC focusing mostly on depictions of women onscreen.

Ke Huy Quan's likely eventual Oscar win is a totally cool thing that I can't get too mad at, but you know what would be cooler?
If he was a shoo-in for a best actor nomination for his lead performance opposite his equally perfect co-lead.
Just sayin'.
Mike in Canada: And I think it would be cooler for some critics groups to admit that there was more than one great supporting actor performance. It just sucks the fun out of all of this when everyone picks the same winner. Why have 5 million groups if they just do the same thing? And in the (unlikely) event that, say, the Globes pick a different supporting actor, they would get an endless amount of shit for daring to go against what everybody said MUST be the winner.
Also, I hadn’t actually thought about Quan being the lead but all I can say is that at least it’s not as bad as the Keke Palmer thing.

Just really happy for Ke Huy Quan and that movie and its cast and crew. I also love the idea that a film that came out in MARCH (!) is becoming a frontrunner.
@Ryan T. - If EEAAO actually wins Best Picture, I think that would make it the first time since The Silence of the Lambs that the Best Picture winner came out before the previous year’s Oscar ceremony.
charlea -- 1000% agree. It's really unfortunate. If you claim that there was only one great performance in a year it also negates the specialness of giving that person a prize. groupthink be exhausting!
Mostly boring groupthink awards
If you really have passion for one performance why not give it a boost,we all know by now Colin,Michelle,Kerry and Ke Huy are Oscar bound.
Why not throw someone from The Woman king a bone or Paul Mescal or Nina Hoss,shake the race up,get people to engage in other films rather than those with the loudest buzz.
Personally i'm praying for Dolly and Danielle and would put them first on my own ballot.
How oh HOW do we fix this groupthink drudgery every.goddam.year. I am a big fan of EEAAO and all cast and crew involved, but this is insane overkill and makes their frontrunner status so much less exciting.
I'll also agree on Ke Huy as lead, it's borderline but verrrry borderline a la Michelle Williams in Fablemans where they probably should have gone lead. I'd be curious if anyone has his (and Yeoh's) screen time total.
If all (or most) of the critics believe that Ke Huy Quan is the Best Supporting Actor of the year then they should recognize him even if it becomes an obvious or "boring" choice.

Harmodio -- I agree in theory. But how, with the great diversity of human beings, would everyone think the same thing is the most deserving? It defies logic and the realities of taste (try getting a group of people to agree on anything in real life!) that everyone would just nod their heads along with everyone else no matter the size, city, group, or purpose of that awards organization?
To piggyback off of Nathaniel: I’m pretty sure it was Nathaniel that advocated at one time for all critics groups to announce winners on the same day as a way of seeing if they all truly think the best supporting actor was [name] or best director was [name]. Of course it’s just speculation but I totally agree that it would probably show that these groups just rubber stamp to go along and either:
A) want to become predictive rather than reflect true preference, or
B) are afraid to have independent thought for fear of internet backlash.
