Cannes Gown Round 9: Red & Black Song

It's a DOUBLE-SIZED poll tonight/this morning (depending on when you're seeing this) since the stars have been out out en masse for various premieres. One question begs to be asked: Do stylists and designers all have meetings cross-clients to decide on the trends for each major festival...not just general trends but day-to-day shifts. If not why is it all of a sudden blacks and reds? Earlier in the festival metallic gowns and pink were all the rage. The fashion hive-mind has such mood swings!

You know what to do!

You can still vote on the earlier polls. Vote again if you'd like.

I loved reading your blog post about the film experience™. I think it's cool that you made the decision to leave because it's possible that this film could be up for the Palme d'Or and it's cool that you provided reviews. I noticed that you mention that Downton Abbey was one of the movies you reviewed and I loved that you said Downton has always provided fan service.

So many great looks are spoiled by one misbegotten detail. Exarchopoulos looks sleek as fuck, but those sheer gloves have to go. Delevigne could do the same with her pair though they coordinate well with the gown's sheer panels. I hate that gold frippery marring the neckline of Kruger's stunning red, and Wright's tailored glamour would be better served without the train. Seydoux could lose the flimsy arm coverings, and Stone's serve would stun even more if it didn't come with that label attached.

All in all, Rapace wins the styling game for me. The pop of red feels more like an asset than a nuisance. Merlant, on the other hand, has a great skirt in search of a good bodice and little else.

I voted for Sharon Stone every single day. I hope casting directors are following her stellar appearances at Cannes

They should give the Palme D'Or to Sharon for bringing it to the red carpet everytime..
