First & Last 029

Can you guess the movie from its first and last shot?

Did you guess it on just the first image? The last image and the answer are after the jump...

It's David Cronenberg's A Dangerous Method (2011) starring Keira Knightley and Michael Fassbender. It's currently streaming on Hulu.

Do you miss Michael Fassbender? After ubiquity on screen from 2010 through 2017 he's been absent from the screen for SIX years, the only exception being one last contractually obligated trip as super villain Magneto in the poorly received last installment of the X-Men franchise (to date at least)... X-Men Dark Phoenix (2019). But we'll finally have him back soon (unless the strikes prevent the planned releases... which they might) in two leading roles: He plays an assassin on the run in David Fincher's The Killer (due November 10th on Netflix if the plans hold), and Taiki Waititi's sports comedy Next Goal Wins (due Nov 17th in theaters if the plans hold) where he plays a soccer coach.

We always wonder what celebrities do when they just vanish because most people don't have that option of taking a several year long break from their career in motion. Has he just been travelling the world or playing stay at home dad with his first child?

I've been anticipating Next Goal Wins for 4 years now and I'm looking forward to it finally premiering at this year's TIFF!

I think Fassbender has been following the steps of Paul Newman and Steve McQueen pursuing auto racing in his long absence from the screen.

He needed to go and rest for a bit,he was becoming overexposed though still a good actor.

How I long for another juicy part of Michael! And Keira Knightley, too, for that matter. Hell, Michael’s wife needs another piece to challenge her too. She’s yet to top her breakout year! (Though I’ve heard great things about her television turn in Irma Vep, I’ve yet to see it).

It's also streaming on MUBI.
