The ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER cast cheers on their auteur winning Best Film
Greetings from blizzard-hit NYC. Over the pond the BAFTA awards were held this weekend. Do they change the Oscar race? Who can say but they do take place right before the Academy votes for their own winners: February 26 through March 5. During this key voting window we'll also experiene the winners of the newly rechristened "Actor Awards" (SAG ceremony is on March 1). If that weren't enough we'll also see the remainder of the Film Bitch Nominations and Oscar volleys right here which are sure to sway thousands of okay tens of vo --- absolutely no one but they're still fun for us to share!
One Battle After Another took home six BAFTAs with Frankenstein and Sinners tied for runner up with three each. After the jump all of the winners and some acceptance speeches, too...

This is a tremendous honour. I'm well aware of the other films that share this gift of an award. Anybody that says movies aren't any good anymore can piss right off because this is a great fucking year.

It may all come down to SAG or maybe it will stay suspenseful through Oscar night?

OBAA is probbaly taking director Best picture I feel could go three ways but let's hop it goes to Anderson
UGH those Frankenstein craft wins,I am happy for the lady but tat doesn't mean I have to like it.
Penn and Mosaku were real shocks,I assumed it was Skarsgaard and Taylor,I don't think SAG will say much it'll still be a nailbiter just not as much as the Supporting Actor prize,I wonder if Lindo can pull a Marcia Gay harden,well respected veteran in a major BP threat.
BA is anyone's guess,the winner gave Hawke a really lovely shout out,Hawke said to the person sat next to him something like "That was really sweet",I 'm not a huge fan of his work in Blue Moon though Scott is amazing in it but it wouldn't surprise me either if he emerged as a winner,I think Wagner is a pipe dream,Leo coul win again and he deserves it this time,MBJ's time will come but Timmy should be worried.
Can someone explain the Buckley sweepI found her bland with unadveturous line delivery and totally uncharismatic,the film left me completely unmoved and I do have a heart and her key scene to me was Meryl in Sophie's Choice Part 2 just less convincing,she has 1 other great scene but that's it,looks like the 2nd year in a row were i don't get the lead Actress winner,Rose Byrne acts circles round her as do several others even Kate Hudson.
Nathaniel, I know you like the ‘spread the wealth’ but I’m glad Coogler won for screenplay since it saddens me to say that PTA seems to be sucking up all the other awards (for an inferior film… awards should be for the FILM not a body of work, but whatever) so this at least won’t let Coogler go home empty handed for his passion project.
