Tilda shines

Great photos! Now when the hell is Tilda going to remake Auntie Mame!!!????.

-JOHNNY

Ebert refers to her as "Saint Tilda" I'm considering getting a tattoo of just that

20:10 Strangely Timed Vacation

Three years ago at the original blog, I created a series called 20:07 which became one of the most popular TFE features ever and spawned a slew of imitators 'round the web. Just for fun, let's resurrect that ol' champ for the remainder of Oscar season as we finish celebrating the films of 2010 so that a new film year can spring forth.

Screen capture: 20th minute and 10th second of Shutter Island

Chuck Aule: You're in a state of lockdown, a dangerous patient has escaped and you let her primary doctor leave? On vacation?

I love that Leonardo's expression is so play-acting at detective work. Like 'I might write down a clue at this very moment. I just might. I'm a detective!'  Isn't that perfect?

But about that doctor. Do you have the phone number for where he's gone? Do you have this film's number? (I'm guessing 2 as in Cinematography and Art Direction. Not that I need every conversation to be about Oscar.)

THREE YEARS AGO?! Oy. Time flies.

I think 1: Art Direction.

but I also think it's the 12th movie in line to get a Best Picture nomination... so who knows.

I can see this film going one extreme or another. I can see it being a surprise Best Pic nominee (I know, I know, no chance, but there are always surprises right?) or I can see it getting completely ignored in all categories, causing people to go "huh, no Shutter Island for anything? weird."

I'd say it's definitely in an 11-15 range for Best Picture. I don't know about 12th. I would put at least 127 Hours/Winter's Bone/The Kids Are All right in 9th-11th (no particular order), and Blue Valentine 12th. The next 3 would definitely include Another Year and Shutter Island.

sawyer -- which brings up an interesting "number"

currently i'm thinking

8 kids are all right
9 winter's bone
10 127 hours
11 the town
12 the ghost writer
13 another year
14 shutter island
15 blue valentine

I hope The Ghost Writer gets in over the horrendous sounding 127 Hours. It's a story built to scare, yet everyone says "hyper-kinetic editing". Those two things DO...NOT...GEL. (Hyper-kinetic editing and ACTION movies, however? Decent, yet not the most preferable approach.)

And Blue Valentine as 15? I'd say Shutter Island is in their 20, but I see 14-20 as something like this:

Blue Valentine
Animal Kingdom
I Am Love
Biutiful
Rabbit Hole
Scott Pilgrim (of all things. The more youthful actors and, possibly, the effects branch may have this taking quite a few #1 positions.)
Shutter Island (at best, I see the Academy giving this #2 or 3s.)

Can I steal this?
