Actressland: "Martha Marcy May Marlene

New Series! Weekly Web Comic

 more panels after the jump...

I've been meaning to start a weekly webcomic for ages and I gotta start somewhere. So I started with the movie taking up most of my mental real estate lately. (Mental real estate located in upstate New York where Martha Marcy May Marlene takes place.)

Alfred Molina Matthew McConaughey, Marlene Dietrich, Elizabeth Olsen, Mae West, Mark Wahlberg

OMG - love it. (I haven't thought of Marcy from the Peanuts cartoons in years. Brilliant.)

Is this something that you are going to do right here? Oh please yes. "Actressland" - the title alone makes me happy. And I love your drawings so - more please!

Your header should be your drawings instead of photos.

I realized when I left the theater early this afternoon that this film almost sent me into an anxiety attack. I was so wrapped up in it I didn't even notice that the increasingly worse situations unfolding were causing me problems. This is one of the most disturbing films I've ever seen in theaters, which says a lot considering the horror smut I normally go see.

This is a bit off topic, but I love it too much not to share:

wow. Loved the panels! My only complain is that they're kind of small and that there isn't enough of them! Would love to see you do more in the future for sure :)

I love it even though I don't fully get the concept.

LOL. The panels are funny! The drawings are simple but the humor was injected in each of them. Keep the comics coming.

November 12, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterArthur Taper

Regarding the size, would you be able to set up another page on the site for the comic with a layout like your Oscar prediction pages? That should be wide enough to handle a webcomic.

Robert -- that's a great idea actually. will look into.
