and you can't link me down...

Nick's Flick Picks extensive thoughts on Jennifer Lawrence's (Winter's Bone) career to date.
IndieWire "a modest proposal" a chilling essay about how the new Justin Beiber movie is more of a time capsule for the here and now than The Social Network is.
Acidemic retraction. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World racks up more points.
Roger Ebert apparently if you guess ALL of the Oscar winners correctly, you can win 100,000 bucks courtesy of Ebert and MUBI. Though strangely the article has no link to an actual contest. Curious.
ABC News Elizabeth Taylor very ill in hospital. I can't deal when thinking about losing La Liz. I really can't. It'll be the end of a monumental Hollywood era. GET WELL SOON.
Movie|Line I knew that Andy Rooney 60 minutes King's Speech endorsement I mentioned earlier was going to spread online.
Vulture Channing Tatum on The Eagle and his bromance with Jamie Bell. Fun interview
Scott Feinberg on the recent new arguments that The Social Network can still win Best Picture

Finally, I saw this video at Critical Condition and wanted to share it since I know many of you reading are "Wicked" fans. An artist Heidi Gilbert storyboarded it imagining it as a movie. This was done in September I guess but if it's new to me, it's  new to some of you, too. And who can't use a bit of "Wicked" to brighten a Monday?

Thanks a lot for the video clip! I still don't think that Wicked would work as a "real" movie but this makes me think it might be a good animated movie...but in the end, I think it should remain on the stage only. I think that some musicals simply aren't meant for the screen (like Les Miserables)

Nathaniel, I think the Ebert contest ended a few days after nominations. The readers have to guess earlier than him, so he has an advantage.

eurocheese -- ah i see. still pretty smart contest. i mean who ever gueses 100%? you probably never have to give out the $100,000

I entered, but I guarantee I lost, lol. BTW, loving all the features lately! :)

eurocheese -- good. I've been worried. comments have slowed way down so i interrupt that as EVERYONE HATES ME ALL OF A SUDDEN ;) because I am insane.

Interrupt it, because it's false. Interpret it as "The King's Speech march has depressed the hell out of many readers and they're lying on the floor drinking but not blogging" or they're just too lazy to insert the needed characters. I always forget them and after a while I look and see that there's something unfinished about my post :p

I don't think you have to guess 100% to win Ebert's contest, just outguessed him.

Amazing. It does feel like people have gotten really bored this year though. It's funny because there are more potential upsets than Oscar's seen in a while. Even so, I'm ready for this Oscar year to end. (Well, I'd rather see Portman and Bale win first, but I know typing that is just tempting fate. A Bening win would be more fun to read about here than most other places online, if it happens.)

I LOVE Wicked! Especially the "So if you dare to find me, look to the western sky!" part. Anne Hathaway for Elphaba! Before she gets too old.

Nathaniel - I too will be very sad when Elizabeth Taylor dies. However, I cannot imagine how sad i will be when Meryl Streep dies. I will have to go into mourning.

If you outguess Ebert you get a year subscription to Mubi. Guess all 26 and you get the money. I think the contest might still be open at mubi.com

I don't want to lessen the impact if we lose Liz Taylor...but I just learned that both Olivia de Havilland and Joan Fontaine are still alive (94 and 93, respectively). So don't close the book on old Hollywood yet...
