"Character" Poll - 1991-2000
Saturday I asked you to vote on Best Actress Character Polls. This is not about the performances per se but the movie characters themselves.
It's to help me with brainstorming a secret project or two -- plus to get a general consensus on which characters you wonderful people out there in the dark obsess over most. So while we're discussing it, let's make the poll an even two decades.
Here's part 3 & 4 1991-1995 | 1996-2000. VOTE ON BOTH. Please choose up to but no more than 5 characters. Be honest about which characters you think of the most (which is not the same as who you think deserved to win.)
Here's part 4. 1991-1995. Same thing.
Thanks for voting.
And make sure to hit the other two polls if you haven't already. Thanks!

Pt 3:
1. Marge Gunderson (by a landslide!)
2. Sara Goldfarb
3. Senator Laine Hanson
4. Sammy Prescott
5. Carol the Waitress
Pt. 4:
1. Clarice Starling
2. Louise
3. Thelma
4. Sera

I am really surprised at myself for thinking of Binoche's character in Chocolat so much.
Pt. 1
1. Dora (like my grandma)
2. Jacqueline du Pre (that movie killed me)
3, Bess (so did this one!)
4. Cynthia Purley
5. Kate Croy
Pt. 2
1. Clarice
2. Elaine (that hat!)
3. Ada
4. Tina
5. Ouisa
Please vote for films like Passion Fish or Secrets & Lies that feature actual CHARACTERS.
As opposed to the fake ones in the other films?
In the 1996 - 2000 poll, I chose three actresses from 1996. I think that Blethyn, Watson, and McDormand gave the best perforances and also had the most interesting characters to work with. This was a bright year for actresses.
I don't even know what this poll is for but I'm a little crushed that Bess McNeil/Emily Watson isn't getting more votes. To me, that is one of the most indelible film characters of all time.
AR -- the poll isn't for anything in particular. as stated in the previous post (about 2001-2010) i'm working on a couple of secret projects and I wanted to pick your hive mind as to which characters resonated with people and occupied their headspace.
Bess is not getting more because unfortunately Breaking the Waves is still not that popular. People MUST see that movie.
Is it just me or are the 90's choices *much* harder to winnow down than the aughts'? I had to leave off Brandon Teena *and* Thelma & Louise, for God's sake! (Talk about a Sophie's Choice.)
