"No Relation" ...an Oscar Name Game

Last year 'round about this time our movie buddy Kurt was having fun with mash-ups of Oscar nominees. He sent us a few this year for posting (Thanks Kurt!) and, as he puts it..

These unlikely pairs of hopefuls may seem like they were separated at birth, but there's no relation aside from their mutual hunger for Oscar gold."

So here we go...

EXTREMELY LOUD AND INCREDIBLY GLENN CLOSE

MICHEL / MICHELLE

CLOONEY / ROONEY

Ha! Well Lisbeth definitely could use some sun. Though I can't imagine Hawaii would suit her exactly. Though she probably wouldn't flinch at berating defenseless coma patients or investigating ex-lover real estate agents.

Kurt had two more ideas that I visualized to wrap up (after the jump)...

IF A TREE OF LIFE FALLS

A MIDNIGHT CAT IN PARIS

Best Animated Woody Allen Picture!
Somehow I can't picture Woody Allen doing one though he did do that voicework for Antz? Hmmmm.

Which two Oscar nominees do you mash together in your awards-season addled brain?

I would absolutely love to see Gary OldMan or Muppet.

I want to see The Iron Lady duke it out with the Transformers and the robot boxers from Real Steel.

First: The Girl With the Marilyn Tattoo: a punk hacker who’s obsessed with Marilyn Monroe.
Second: Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Drive: Gary Oldman as Smiley hires Ryan Gosling as The Driver to help him acquire all the protected documents to catch the mole.

One of the movies isn't award season related per se but I feel it's a very clever relation...

The Iron Milady. Ha.

Weirdly enough, every time I think of Woody Allen's films, the first bit that comes to my mind is the animated part in Annie Hall with Snow White and the Wicked Queen.
It would probably be fun if he did a full feature in animation actually.

Now I'm stuck imagining, per Mikhael's suggestion, Ryan Gosling in Benedict Cumberbatch's TTSS role, and Rooney Mara in Shailene Woodley's Descendants role. Or how about Lisbeth assisting Smiley? They'd be the perfect underestimated-but-secretly-scary investigative team.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Drive FTW.

And yes, Woody Allen needs to go animated. Sylvain Chomet, hit him up!
