Girl Gone Wild
Madonna's "Girl Gone Wild"... I can't stop watching it!
But why do I think all male models are Colin Firth's rejected hustler from A Single Man? I swear I see him everywhere. Or is that actually Jon Katajarena? Madonna and Tom Ford do like to share collaborators.
It's great when stars can play on past triumphs without exactly repeating them. This song/video has flashes of previous Madonna classics like "Bad Girl" (the smoking, the hair) and "Express Yourself" (Madonna in silhouette and chains) a verbal reference to "Like a Prayer", but it also recalls the Sex book / "Justify My Love" era as well which I was not at all expecting given the complicated fall out from that particular Madonna era.
Best of all is the confident but not lazy sparseness that suggests "Human Nature" and yet it's all still very "Girl Gone Wild". Wouldn't it be crazy if movies were as sexual as music videos? The MPAA would die. A-

I love the video, I just wish I loved the song ;(
That *is* Jon from A Single Man, lol.
She does it again! She really does know her audience. Kudos.
That's my girl! Love it!
He totally is Jon Kortajarena! So handsome!
Please don't mix Madonna with cinema! This may have serious gay man appeal, but the smoking is not erotic. And Madonna is not a girl, she's in her 50's and is a fitness and plastic surgery junkie. I lost interest in her after Ray of Light.
I totally agree!
Amazing!
Duncan you must be a very unhappy person.
I have problems with Madonna and the video but I don't want to be grinchy so I'll just say that the possibility of having seen man penis in this video has been very good for me.
We shall stand defiant in our fandom.
Yes it is Jon Kortajarena. It's male model heaven, because the video also features Sean O'Pry (most booked male model), Rob Evans & Simon Nessman. Madonna's got taste!
I just looveeeeee this video. The sexy Madonna is back. Btw nat, did u realize that Madonna is chanelling Tura Satana from Russ Meyer's Faster Pussycat Kill Kill. Love it! A fun video. Been watching it non stop eversince :)
This just solidifies for me that Madonna is queen of the "video" era. I heard the song originally and went "meh". Then saw the video and suddenly love the song, cranking it around my house while i work. She's always been a master of image married to music. When she hits that sweet spot, it's something more than just good pop.
I've actually warmed to the song. I get what it's trying to do on the album, but it doesn't hit it 100%. But I don't hate it as much as I used to. The song "Superstar" on the album gets my total haterade. Everything else is pretty much good to great ("Falling Free" is one of the greatest things she's put on record)
How does Madonna still look like that? My God. Fifty-something and showing these simple pop bitches how it's done! Work it with those twinks, Madge! Great video. The song's not good, but at least it's better than the awful "Give Me All Your Luvin'" (and death to these cutesy alternative spellings, please! My personal pet peeve in the age of internet shorthand--excuse me while I retreat to my rocker). I might give this new album of hers a shot after all.
um....LOVE THIS VIDEO!!! Fantastic sultry sexy choreography. Madonna looks amazing. It's almost as if she's the only surviving pop artist of her generation, who actually does it better than modern popular artists today, in terms of well produced pop music and performance. She's a knockout STILL!!!! Michael, Janet, Lauper, Prince- none of them have made the impact she has, for the length she has. She truly is the Queen of Pop!!!!!
I find it brilliant but am aware it is very very derivative of the past and her peak period 1990 imo, still love the video surprised ay all the male flashing and fleshing, she still has a great face!!
Whatever her cinematic contributions have been, she makes some great cinematic references in her videos. IF anyone is aware a lot of her videos refer masterful works such as Jacques Demy's Bay of Angels (channeling Jeanne Moreau in Justify My Love) and The Night Porter. Her music has never sound vapid or uninteresting to me. Even her minor efforts are adventurous and they never lack fun. LUV MDNA 4ever.
The song is great, but the Dave Aude remix is better than the original. Go Madonna!
this is so gratuitous.. less is more. that said those are some of the hottest male models right now.. madonna is with it
