Thoughts I had while staring at the "Magic Mike" poster
• I see no magic being performed unless Alex Pettyfer is about to pull something out of that hat.
• If this movie had been made in the 1980s or by Nicolas Winding Refn the blue letters would've been in pink neon.
• I keep wanting to spell something out. If you squint, Matthew, Matt & Joe, and Alex are spelling out Y.M.A but Channing is letterless. Maybe if you flipped Channing horizontally he'd be an "R". What does it all mean? R. Y. M. A.?
• "work all day. work it all night" is kind of an awesome tagline. It's self aware. Movie, know thyself!
• If this movie shows less Joseph Mangianello skin than any random episode of True Blood, Steven Soderbergh has failed us all.
• That camouflage will only hide Matt Bomer if he's surrounded by thousands of male strippers in a muddy forest. Hmmmm.
• Why isn't this opening for my birthday (June 6th) instead of June 29th?

Or, if I'm being completely honest. The five most important things about this poster are as follows:

Ha. Excellent post. So, is the movie going to be good? On any level? I can't decide.
Ummm, the 29th is my birthday so it's a perfect release date.
why isn't this movie in 3D?
R. Y. M. A is obviously an anagram for MARY, as in, "Mary, pray for us sinners as we gaze upon this."
Hee. I think you summed it perfectly up.
It's an awful poster!
Peggy Sue: Is there a better poster design they could have gone with? Sure, it's not up there with the American Do the Right Thing, Brazil, Alien or E.T. posters, but it deemphasizes the movie's ugly yellow colour scheme, shows self-awareness and shows off what, exactly, the movie is about. Namely: LOOK AT THE HOT STRIPPERS! I will admit the cast text at the top is mispositioned, but that barely matters when everything else about this is right for the kind of movie this is. Though, at the end of the day, I'd say this isn't really my movie, especially if it gets mixed reviews.
Rebecca-the 29th is also my birthday, so yes, it is our present. :)
I saw a trailer for this yesterday in front of Moonrise Kingdom. You know how after a trailer, sometimes a couple of people in the audience will applaud or boo and there might be a little whispering as people turn to their friends and say if they want to see it? Well, there was a huge reaction in my theater. Everyone had to turn to their friends and say something about what they just saw, everyone. And no clapping or booing, just frantic whispering. I don't know what it means but it was very interesting.
I never get the Tatum love. He a) can't act and b) isn't that hot. I have a feeling this movie is going to disappoint everyone.
This movie should be in IMAX - 3 -D
I like everyone in the cast except for Channing Tatum whom I find incredibly boring.
@Rebecca and John T.: June 29th is my birthday as well. Seriously. Too freakin' awesome.
OMG. we need to have a reader birthday part on June 29th. so many of you!
