Hail this Teaser for "Hail, Caesar!"
Hail the teaser for the new Coen Bros picture, which will launch a thousand internet memes! Since it's mostly a collection of catchy images and title credits we'll leave the full Yes No Maybe So treatment for later but know that we're "Yes" on literally every shot therein. Zany Coen Bros comedies are to be cherished when they arrive. I still remember my first times seeing both Raising Arizona (1987) and Burn After Reading (2008) in theaters and just hurting from laughter.
5 favorite things (and boy was it hard to narrow down) in the trailer after the jump...
05 Tilda's ridiculous (read: perfect) hat.
04 Josh Brolin's expression when he hears that he's got a call from the future. (He's earned a leading role showcase. So good lately in everything.)
03 Scarlett Johansson's voice (fun that she's playing an Esther Williams type)
02 The silly ransom note. "Who are We? The Future." We ♥ closeups of messages / notes / letters in movies. It's a weird fetish and one we should definitely explore at some point.
01 Every shot of Channing Tatum as a Song & Dance Man. But especially this one which is sure to inspire continual tweets and memes.

Trailer: Awesome!! Barton Fink-meets-the Dude in the set of Ben-Hur?? Ticket sold!!
I died.
I'm also a 'yes' for Ralph Fiennes in another comedic role after Grand Budapest Hotel.
I am so here for this. Tilda can actually do no wrong.
I am the only one wishing that Johansson was playing the Lady Gaga role on AHS? Not that she'd ever stoop that low, but she's giving me everything Gaga should have been.
What a cast - can we posterize Channing's career at some point?
It totally reminded me of the dream sequence in "The Big Lebowski", bring it on.
I just have a big smile on my face every time I look at it.
Just here reminding everyone that Jonah Hill has the same amount of Oscar nominations as Ralph Fiennes!
God I hope that screen shot of Tatum is an accurate depiction of his characterization because I LOVE everything about gay 1950s manly men/ performers in uniform.
therealmike -- you are hopelessly cruel!
g.shaq - the movie will reanimate your corpse!
catbaskets -- this.
Nat: This is gonna be a good showcase, especially since it seems like it's KIND OF a leading man version of that Inherent Vice turn.
George Clooney is always at his best when he works with the Coens. I love that he's embraced his age and looks like the old star of the 50's, like Grant, Cooper and Stewart - their age didn't stop them from getting big roles, even in romantic comedies.
This trailer may be the best movie of 2015.
This is terrible unfeasible impossible for me to suggest, but I'm suddenly seeing Scarlett in a Madonna biopic.
BTW- The Coens are to kidnapping screwballs what Tarantino is for revenge fantasias or Almodovar's polisexual melodramas.
No.
"Edd-ayyyy" <3
Barton Fink meets Inherent Vice at the Grand Budapest Hotel. Which is three kinds of YES.
Love this trailer and any movie that has Channing Tatum dancing in sailor suit is a must see in my book.
You know what, I know it's only a teaser, but I kinda agree with Gregory Ellwood in that if they threw this film into the season (rather than February 5 as planned) they could pull a Million Dollar Baby and win a bunch of Oscars. It feels like such a vibrant breath of fresh air where most people seem to predicting, of all things, SPOTLIGHT. Yikes.
This looks delightful. I'm not a fan of LEBOWSKY, but this seems more like BURN AFTER READING zany than that earlier film's stoner farce.
A little like a take-off on Singin' in the Rain?
If it was great they would release it in December.
Marie Antoinette: Starmaker comedies (and let's not be confused, Brolin is in that awkward "not a character actor, but not a star either" slot right now) NEED to "build" (and "building" is ideal for comedies in general (remember, The Grand Budapest Hotel was a March release)), even ones about Hollywood. Is it complete? Probably. Is it great enough to get those nods in some year? Maybe. But it is still a starmaker comedy, and the latest I think you could release a starmaker comedy and get a Best Picture nod is early August.
OMG this trailer actually won me over re Channing Tatum!! He looks so brilliant here!
