Your reminder that Glenn Close has not yet won an Oscar.

December 14, 2015 | Unregistered Commentercraver

Ugh. She's so good.

December 14, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterPhilip H.

Sublime actress. I don't want her to win her Honorary Oscar in a separate ceremonyy.

December 14, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterPeggy Sue

I remember seeing her in Dangerous Liaisons at a "tender" age and thinking "this is why I love movies and actresses."

Being angry won't make your performance better than Cher's, dear

December 14, 2015 | Unregistered Commentercal roth

Has any female won an Oscar for playing a psychopath? I'm glad she won Emmys for Damages though, since it was her best role since this one.

December 14, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterPam

Pam: Kathy Bates in Misery comes to mind.

cal roth: Agreed! Much as I think Glenn Close is excellent in Fatal Attraction, Cher is just a little bit more excellent.

This should have been Oscar number 1. I love Cher but Glenn should have been the third actress to win back to back lead Oscars, that 87-88 combo is just perfection.

1987 is such a great Best Actress line-up!

I'd pick Glenn Close over Cher anytime...in any movie:..in a heartbeat:)

December 14, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterJans

let me be bold: glenn close never starred in any movie as great as moonstruck. and she is great sometimes, but she's never been as great as cher in moonstruck.

Cher's Oscar win is a novelty like Marlee Matlin being deaf or Halle Berry being black. They gave it to her just to say they did.

I love after Cher won she basically retired from acting outside of a few movies in the early and late 90's. Jokes on you Oscar voters all I ever wanted was an Oscar not the career responsibilities of maintaining it wasn't a mistake.

Cher 87 Close 88.

December 14, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterMary

Cher 83, Glenn 87, Meryl 88.

December 14, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterSonja

sorry people. Cher is AWESOME in Moonstruck. and it's true that Glenn Close has never been in a movie as good as Moonstruck.

but basically anybody they handed the statue to in that category 1987 would have deserved it. one of the best lineups of all time.

Glenn Close in the final shot of Dangerous Liasons. I mean, come on.

December 14, 2015 | Registered CommenterChris Feil

Chris -- yeah. that Best Actress win for Jodie Foster made me so crazy.
