Tweetweek: Oscar Sighs, Purring Cats, and "the grim specter of death"
Lots more after the jump including a Xavier Dolan reveal, Erin Brockovich hotness, Scorsese shrugging, dumb birds, and Blade Runner...
Chastain takes the title role of #MISSLOANE by the throat, smashes it against the wall 10X, and then devours it while it’s still quivering.

Oh, Martin Scorsese made a gritty drama with an all-male cast for Oscar season? pic.twitter.com/WXbQq2pAyw

When I release my 2016 top 10, please know that the answer to "but where is [x]?" will always be "I thought these movies were better."

Me: You're doing Supporting Actor wrong! pic.twitter.com/KqUGe2yQ09
I'm not going to get blasé about how Isabelle Huppert is storming the US awards circuit. It could be Claire Denis next.

Movie idea: The Avengers, but with stupid birds from Disney/ Pixar films. pic.twitter.com/xFWRfZYJfR

@weismanjake purring is the only appropriate reaction to Aaron Eckhart & Julia Roberts "you want my number" foreplay

The great thing about being a former child actor is just by continuing to exist you get to remind everybody of the grim specter of death

I think it's been forgotten just how revolutionary it was that NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD had a black lead in 1968. pic.twitter.com/zHqkRLMIdu

I'm having four simultaneous text conversations about Xavier Dolan saying he's not a bottom. 2016 keeps finding new ways to make us SHOOK.

YOU: How are you feeling about the revelation that Xavier Dolan is a strict top?

Oh, I'm disappointed! I know Chastain is wildly adored here but to leave her stupid tweet out is just too much.
Now I'm curious. What was chastains stupid tweet?
peggy sue -- alas i dont know what you're referring to.
Nathaniel, how dare you not know every tweet such that your round-up is objectively unimpeachable! For shame!
[/sarcasm]
Her Last Tango tweet?
Arkaan -- Ha Ha
Of course is the Last Tango scandal. It's been huge!
Having just gotten back from Miss Sloane, I can affirm that Chastain does indeed take the title role by the throat, smash it against the wall 10X, and then devour it while it’s still quivering. It's a pity she's not in the awards conversation.
@Suzanne - I don't know why you say that. She is very much in the conversation and does not need your pity lol.
The only true locks are Portman and Stone. Some view Bening as a lock, I do not as I could see scenarios where some combination of Huppert/Adams/Streep/Chastain/Negga get enough votes to push her out. Regardless, at the very least, those last two slots are very much up for the taking and (pretty much?) everyone acknowledges that Chastain is right in the thick of things.
Oh that Avengers/stupid bird tweet made me laugh out loud.
huh - Unfortunately, no one is really talking about Miss Sloane and it's tanking at the U.S. box office. I agree that Bening is far more vulnerable than people realize, but if she loses her presumed spot, it's going to be to a populist choice like Streep, Henson or Adams. I would bet on Negga and Huppert as the other nominees at this point. Both have been fairly masterful at campaigning.
It would have helped Bening to win one of the major critics awards last week.
The Scorsese tweet made me LOL. I love this series. I just read that article with Xavier Dolan and the bottom-shaming thing is just gross.
