John McTiernan: Does he even GET the Captain America movies to even dare to phrase it that way? I mean, they just released an entire movie where two sides of an argument are presented and NEITHER IS PRESENTED AS ENTIRELY RIGHT OR ENTIRELY WRONG. And the previous movie was basically a massive rebuke to the idea of UNCHECKED GOVERNMENTAL POWER. Where's the "made by fascists" in either of those things? But, oh, beefy guy in the American flag must represent fascism. Says the guy who made PREDATOR! Yeah, you're a good filmmaker, but you don't get to use "made by fascists" as an insult with that on your filmography.

Farrell sounds like an inspired choice for The Beguiled ! He's shown to be great auteurs so his collaborating with Coppola could be great
McTiernan can talk all the shit he wants to as long as he deliver something as great as the first DieHard again. You know how much I love that movie? I think Bruce Willis should have been a best actor nominee!
As much as I love Howards End, I don't think it should have won best picture, and I am not even talking about Unforgiven (yes, a masterpiece, too, but not the best of this year). The movie that stuck with me as the greatest was the dark, arresting and unsettling The Crying Game. But Oscar would never give best picture to a trans drama in 1994. And, oh God, I love Miranda Richardson! Where are you, Miranda?
(That said, The Remains of the Day should have won best Picture. Yes, in spite of The Piano and Schindler's List).

Okay, well sure. I grew up with it and loved it so it's certainly hitting the nostalgia for my part. But the young cast looks great plus the absolutely random casting of Banks and Cranston make me smile.

Just saw the new Ghostbusters. Biggest take-away: Do not be surprised if you hear that the Ghostbusters sequel is going to be a Sony-Paramount co-production. Because, seriously, too much about that movie is pointing toward Amity Park.
