Link time. Here we go...

Screen
/Film Deadpool 2 and X-Men Dark Phoenix have both wrapped, both due in 2018
/Film Turns out Beyoncé was offered Plumette before Gugu in the recent Beauty & The Beast movie. Insane that they offered Beyoncé a teensy part when Belle was right there. WTF, Bill Condon?
Coming Soon Gong Li will lead Martin Campbell's next thriller Ana -- the tone is said to be similar to La Femme Nikita.  We'd be super excited because Gong Li is always welcome in leading roles but Campbell's new one The Foreigner with Jackie Chan isn't exactly winning raves
Film Society Helen Mirren named as the honoree at next spring's Chaplin Award Gala in NYC. Robert De Niro was the honoree earlier this year

Haynes: "But I decided I didn’t want to do that project. Mostly because it needed to be on stage, even though I love it. Not everything needs to be a movie. "

HELL YEAH

I really hope that after La La Land we have musicals made for the screen instead of Broadway adaptations. The tone of the two medias are completely different. Good adaptations of Broadway musicals are very rare. I mean it.

...really, Woody? This is the thing you want to publicly weigh in on?

Good interview on Todd Haynes -- an intellectual as well as emotional and visceral filmmaker. The first film I saw of his was his underground undergrad film Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story which was available only in the deviant art website. But our prof showed it in class anyway. Haynes spoke in our grad class once to talk about a film he is developing about Bob Dylan which had many of us intrigued but also a bit puzzled. If I am going to rank his top three films, it would be very difficult since many of them occupy top-tier positions, but barring Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story, I'd say: Safe, Velvet Goldmine and Far From Heaven are the top three. But everything else is extremely close that on some days I'm Not There will be in it.

Glad to know Kelli O'Hara is reprising her role as Anna in The King and I. Saw the original run at the Lincoln Center and I thought the singing was top-notch. Wasn't as taken by Ruthie Ann Miles as Lady Thiang although she gave an unforgettable performance as Imelda Marcos in Here Lies Love at the Public Theater. I still think O'Hara should have won for The Bridges of Madison County where is more memorable than Anna.

Excited for Alfonso Cuaron's latest Mexican film. He is surprisingly quiet about it in the interview. I wish wish wish Maribel Verdú is cast in this film. I had a huge crush on her since Y Tu Mamá También.

Not defending him or his statements, but I'm pretty sure EVERY reporter is asking for his comments since the HW news came out. A "no comment" from him would likely be met with anger and derision.
