Tweetweek and the Wonder Women
Hooray. SquareSpace has fixed their Twitter problem so now tweets can be displayed properly again. Essentially we like doing these roundups for two reasons. One, it's easy to miss good stuff on twitter in the presence of an endless stream of stuff. Two, some of you don't use twitter and are probably more sane for it but you shouldn't be denied seeing amusing, insightful, or otherwise shareable brief thoughts on topics both deafening and underdiscussed.
And while we're on the topic of underdiscussed...
Thoroughly enjoyed Rebecca Hall as a sexy stick in the mud in Professor Marston & the wonder women. pic.twitter.com/N6L9a9Lpf6

Wholly agree with Murtada on this one! I'm sad that we didn't give Professor Marston and the Wonder Women its due here at TFE. Maybe when it hits DVD or streaming we can all dig in together? Surprisingly solid with Hall acing her complex leading role (as per usual).
After the jump topics from Mindhunter through Into the Woods to Call Me By Your Name and beyond...
RANDOMNESS
There are so many productions of “Into the Woods” in this city that I pulled back my shower curtain and there was was one in my bathroom

Releasing CALL ME BY YOUR NAME outside of peach season is homophobic

THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI (2017, McDonagh, ****) Frances McDormand cussing out cops and priests is why cinema was invented.

As I looked at this BOY ERASED set pic, I realized that I would 100% read a Where's Waldo book that involved searching for Nicole Kidman pic.twitter.com/b01fVzccNp

JK ROWLING IS GREAT AT TWITTER, PART #2,040,885
Top tip: when arguing that women love being abused really, cite an example of erotica where nobody spends 3 whole books negotiating consent. pic.twitter.com/qZGc5YA2TI

MINDHUNTER TWEETS
How many times do you think Lea Michele has asked Jonathan Groff to put in a good word for her with Fincher?

Something really interesting about #Mindhunter I haven’t seen anyone write about yet: the majority of writers on it are women? Very cool.

Young Skarsgard is so cute.
Yes, J.K. Rowling is so fucking smacked on about the Fifty Shades of Grey bullshit which was really a rip-off of Secretary.
Glad this feature is back! Nice to know some people are using Twitter for good instead of evil.
So what were you doing at Hooters?
I don't get how Vicky Cristina Barcelona's title girls never had a shot at the ospeci. At Scarlett is a kick ass star, but what about Rebecca? She's as talented, if not even more, as the last best actress winners. Where is her fandom?
Sorry my English is not that good. Was my commentary understood?
Ana -- i believe so but for the "ospeci" i dont understand that. I'm not sure why Rebecca Hall isn't bigger. Perhaps it's just bad luck. She hasn't quite had a breakout role even though she consistently delivers. But many of her films are not quite worthy of her.
Biggs -- lol. it was actually an Academy-populated lunch honoring Lois Smith ;) She's beloved among character actors obviously.
Rebecca Hall gave my favorite performance of last year in 'Christine'--it's one of the most realistic portrayals of mental illness I've ever seen in film. The fact that she wasn't really in the awards conversation (aside from her LAFCA runner-up mention and London Critics nomination) was ridiculous.
She was also remarkable on Broadway in 'Machinal.' She's the real deal and deserves far more recognition for her work.
I'm still supremely enraged Hall wasn't honored for CHRISTINE last year!
