Nicole Kidman Honored by Los Cabos & Glamour Magazine

By Ilich Mejia

As if being Australian wasn't celebratory enough, this past week has forced Nicole Kidman to vacate two more spots on her already-crowded mantel.

First, she was honored at Los Cabos' 6th Annual Film Festival with a Lifetime Achievement Award. There representing Yorgos Lanthimos' The Killing of a Sacred Deer, Kidman accepted her award on behalf of all the filmmakers and film festivals that have supported her career. While in Cabos, Kidman also lamented the industry's dearth of working female directors and joked about how some certain Mexican directors keep turning her down (the nerve!). This is only the second year the Mexican festival gives out a Lifetime Achievement Award. The honor was first given out last year, during the festival's fifth celebration, to Italian actress Monica Bellucci.

Only a day after picking up her silver whale at Cabos, Kidman was off to New York to receive her next shiny thing...

Kidman accepts her honor from Glamour in a symbolic Christian Dior dress.

The following night—for her ongoing efforts with UN Women and championing gender equality in the film industry—Kidman was presented Glamour Magazine's Woman of the Year Award by her Beguiled director Sofia Coppola. She shared the award with fellow honorees Solange Knowles, Representative Maxine Waters, Samantha Bee, Patty Jenkins, among others. Clad in mythological couture, Kidman thanked her parents for their good love and empowering upbringing. In her speech, she called for diversity and unity in the industry to produce valuable works.

Before receiving her award, Kidman was featured on one of the covers for Glamour's Women of the Year issue. In the cover story, Rebecca Miller—who will soon be directing Kidman alongside Amy Schumer in She Came to Me—talked to Kidman about her pledge to work with at least one female director every 18 months, speaking up, and her gross motor skills set.

You can soon see Kidman discussing her supporting work in Sacred Deer on LA Times' Supporting Actress roundtable. She'll be joined by Holly Hunter (The Big Sick), Laurie Metcalf (Lady Bird), Michelle Pfeiffer (mother!, Murder on the Orient Express), Hong Chau (Downsizing), and Allison Janney (I, Tonya).

Are we thinking Nic will break into the Supporting Actress race to finish off her spectacular, spectacular year?

Tremendous actress but we all know she gave Weinstein blowies, right?

I just audibly screamed when I read that LA Times Supporting Actress line-up.

I'm not thinking she will, but I'm thinking she should - she's fabulous in Sacred Deer.

And I'm with JB - what a tremendous set of actresses. I can't wait to see that roundtable.

Kidman isn’t even on your chart under extreme long shots? Man she was good in that movie - by far the best thing about it.

OK?! But so many more deserving!

@Huh-I'm insulted by that comment. She's too classy to do such a thing to someone as disgusting as Weinstein.

She really was great in Sacred Deer, but it just seems too weird to get a nomination. She and Pfeiffer would be on my list, I can't wait for that roundtable!

Loved her in Sacred Deer but Barry stole the movie.

Kidman AND Pfeiffer at the same roundtable? Be still my heart! I hope there is a video.
