CAROL

Happy 97th* birthday to the one and only Carol Channing! I wish I were as rich as Jeff Bezos so I could commission Todd Haynes to make her a biopic by her 100th: Carol (2021)

* Carol Channing is the third oldest living Academy Award nominee for acting behind only the 101 year olds Olivia de Havilland and Kirk Douglas.

I first saw her in the 80s TV movie version of Alice in Wonderland. I thought she was the STRANGEST thing, and have loved her ever since.

Love her! I have a feeling that her "Jam Tomorrow, Jam Yesterday" routine is where my gay started.

i've heard it said more than once that if carol channing didn't exist, no one could have made her up. she's a treasure. she's a remembrance of a time when individual personality was enough to make a star; they didn't have to find a mold to fit. love carol, love her crazy life story, love jam tomorrow jam yesterday.

when she leaves us i'm wearing black for a year.

A Carol Channing biopic would be underwhelming ... who could possibly portray her ?!?!

Bushwick -- you have a point.

I *LOVE* that your 'un film du Todd Haynes' biopic poster uses Carol as the White Queen... judging from the above comments I am not alone in feeling that that movie has been playing on a loop in the background of the brains of about 30,000 gay men for the last 33 years... and that Carol's legendary performance was the mindbending, glorious thematic epicenter of the film. Jam Tomorrow indeed!!

I'd love have seen her Loreley. Can't imagine two performers more unlike than Carol and Marilyn. Today, everything and everybody are "icons". She is a real icon.

She'll always be Muzzy to me.

Definitely needs an honorary asap. She has black blood so she does constitute as a sister who could pass.

Does anyone remember the episode of "Magnum P.I." where Magnum accidentally meets her coming out of the ladies' room at 2 in the morning in a nightclub in Honolulu? And that was the joke.
