Beauty Break: Happy 4th of July

We wish we were feeling more festive today and could shout "Happy Fourth of July !!!" with enthusiasm but the USofA hasn't felt like something to celebrate lately what with concentration camps for children, a would be fascist and friend o' dictactors as President. The next election (and a real Captain America) can't come soon enough!

That said, if you appreciate movies / moviestars for their escapist value, WHICH WE DEFINITELY DO, let's briefly forget our collective troubles by staring at them in their red white and blues. We've shared some of these images before but such is also the natural of holidays... TRADITION. Enjoy the views after the jump...

There’s so much to love about America - try to focus on those things today!

What happened to Men Suvari? She was a big hit in the early 2000's (indie cred, popular teen film) I remember she did episodes of Six Feet Under, but then she seemed to disappear from sight. I hope she gets a good role again.

How could you not include Jennifer Coolidge from Legally Blonde 2?

“You look like the Fourth of July. It makes me want a hot dog real bad.”

Peggy Sue -- i actually like Star Spangled Banner best. I am one of *those* who likes that it's complicated and hard to sing. ;)

Dang, every time I see Heath Ledger against that fireworks backdrops I'm sad he's gone.

I watched "The Handmaid's Tale" with a friend today, which seemed appropriate for our current situation.

I wish Russell Crowe would sing it.

I thought Ariana Grande hated America...

LOL. Lip service about concern re: concentration camps for children (no specificity needed about which children, apparently) followed by a deluge of celebratory images with exactly 2 non-white American faces featured. "Happy 4th of July" indeed, everyone.

July 5, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterHmm.

You can tell why the old stars are still iconic- the studio knew how to market their beauty. And yes Happy Birthday America- who at it's best us gave us Hollywood's golden age, jazz and musical comedy!

Can't hate a country that invented Marilyn Monroe. There must have something nice there.
