Choose Your Quarantine House

These memes have been ubiqutious on twitter the past few days with everyone getting stir crazy but since you might not be on Twitter and you love movie-madness as much as us, we thought we'd share some of the best and most difficult choices in these movie-centered editions of 'Choose Your Quarantine House'

Starting with the A24 which has always had a tremendously inspired social media department. Witness:

Hee. Every house has something wondrous and something highly objectionable or downright terrifying. But it's your choice. And on to the Oscars...

Here's a brilliant difficult BEST ACTRESS CHOICE from our friend Andrew Carden...

A really difficult one Best Picture Winning Edition from Sasha Stone. Seriously each house has something so rewatchable and something awful. I want to choose House 1 for the joy and classics but then I'd have to put up with Braveheart so I think i'm going with House 5.

And we even got into the act with this proposition for you direct from my own twitter...

It's your choice (x 4) . Just make one!

A24: House 5
Actress: House 8, the reunion of the Hours ladies
BP: House 1, where GWTW and All About Eve battle to the death while Casablanca, hovering in the brilliantly lit shadows, waits to take center stage (The Artist takes notes while Braveheart screams in a corner to itself)
Meryl: Curious as I am about Houses 2 and 5, House 6 is too fascinating to miss.

A24: House 5, if nothing else because the black hole seems like a nice respite from our current state of affairs.

Best Actress: House 9, mostly because of Thompson and Jackson, though all of them are great.

Best Picture: House 8, even if that decision stems mostly from my strong dislike of at least one film on all the other options.

Meryl: House 6, but someone has to do something about Eleanor Shaw. Maybe Mrs. Fox can eat her.

A24: literally not a single one of them.

Best Actress: Hard choice, but gotta go with House 8.

Best Picture: I’m a reluctant House 7

Meryl: House 2. I’m not sure I’d survive with at least one character from the other houses (1- Sophie and Lindy’s misery, 3- Violet’s intensity, 4- Maggie’s politics and Mary Louise screams, 5- Sister Beauvier’s religiosity and FFJ singing, 6- Eleanor scheming)

Picture: House 4. Just because. I'd choose a House where Children of Men belongs but did it even win an award?

Meryl: House 6 is my choice but only because Julia from Defending Your Life is there. That film does not get so much mentions among cinephiles, much less love. But that is my favorite Meryl performance because I think Meryl is probably closer to Julia in real life. The role is supporting and a bit light compared to her High Drama films, but only Julia can save me from the fire.

A24 - None of them.
Best Actress - House 8 is fabulous, and my first choice- (Streep and Maggie Smith!) 2nd choice is H9 with Ingrid Bergman, followed closely by H4 with Cher and Elizabeth Taylor. Tough choices.
Best Picture - House 1 with Casablanca and All about Eve.
Meryl - so many characters I don't want to be near...but House 2 looks like I might survive.

A24: House 4
Best Actress: House 3
Best Picture: House 9
Meryl Streep: House 6

April 9, 2020 | Unregistered Commenterthevoid99

A24: House 5 cause is a gay icons reunion
Best actress: House 8
Best Picture: House 2 and 3 are the less tragic. I'll go for 2 for Brando <3
Streep: In House 3 there's Silkwood and in House 4 A Praire Home Companion... but House 2 got Death Becomes Her! So I'll go for it.

April 9, 2020 | Unregistered CommenterPP

A24: House 4
Best Actress: House 9. Wittiest, liveliest, most fun.
Best Picture: House 8.
Best Meryl: House 6 (although I would try to avoid Eleanor Shaw).

Great memes, beautiful memes.... Now Smackdown, Seasons of Bette, Reader’s Choice, thoughtful content good sir!

A24: None of them.
Actress: House 2. Minelli AND McDormand AND Loren AND de Havilland AND a couple cool ghosts?
Best Picture Winners: House 1.
Streep: House 2.

Can we have a hot actor edition?

April 9, 2020 | Unregistered CommenterJaragon

A24 - 4, if exclusively for Julia
Actress - 5, for the Faye fireworks
Picture - 4, as I'm actually fond of the supposed stinker (CHARIOTS) here
Streep - 5, for the magic that is Mary Fisher

Actress House 7: I imagine myself kicking back with Kathy, Halle, and Sally while Katharine, Grace, and Barbra try to out-diva the others in their own, unique ways.

April 9, 2020 | Unregistered CommenterCash

The only house that i care about in this quarantine from ALL of the above, is the best actress number 4. In terms of group can imagine the good conversation, the not taking everything too seriously, the laughs. Cate Blanchett being a great mediator of it all. Wicked ladies are the best quarantine, but I do hope we don't share bedrooms. It is more a kitchen/living room/terrace/garden scenario.

A24: House 3- The temptation to witness the farting, aroused corpse of Radcliff playing 'football' with Tommy Wiseau is just too great.

Actress: House 3- Rainer can just sit in a corner with her thoughts and leave the fun for the rest of us.

Pictue: House 3 (!): includes the least unendurable of all of the coma-inducing winners in the other houses.

Meryl: House 2- I actually like some of the movie's and/or performances in other houses more, but the character's in this house would be much more tolerable in the long term.

April 9, 2020 | Unregistered CommenterNederama

A24: What Claudio said about House 5, haha.

Best Actress: House 9 for Emma Thompson alone, but everyone else in it is pretty great, too. I'd be cool with all of the houses, actually, except Susan Sarandon automatically disqualifies House 6.

Best Picture: House 8. Shakespeare in Love is endlessly rewatchable (much more so than the movie everyone likes to bitch about its beating for BP), Rebecca is one of my favorites, I have a soft spot for Gigi even if it hasn't aged well in some respects, and the other two are solid...even though I maintain Master & Commander deserved the win over Return of the King.

Streep: As LadyEdith said, House 2 seems most survivable. Though House 6 would be...interesting.

April 9, 2020 | Unregistered CommenterLynn Lee

A24: I'd rather be homeless. Even being stuck with Lucas and Tim is not enough
Actress: 4- there is a lot of fun and fab ladies there. And Fletcher can teach me sign langauge!
Picture: 8- the least objectionable lineup
Streep: 3- If I'm going to be stuck in a house all summer I'll need help. Karen will take care of the showers and bathrooms, Donna will do the bedrooms, Jane will handle the cooking, Linda will run to the store, Camila will assist with technical/internet problems, Francesca will teach me photography, and all of us will keep Violet locked in the basement pretending this movie and performance do not exist.

April 9, 2020 | Unregistered CommenterTom G.

Tom G: A lineup with GIGI (The pedophilia musical DEEPLY in need of a metal remake) in it is the least objectionable? If you say so, I guess.

April 9, 2020 | Unregistered CommenterVolvagia

The Best Actress one is so obviously House 8 for me. You get all three ladies from The Hours (Meryl is a great cook besides), plus Joanne Woodward, who can tell Old Hollywood stories, and Sissy, who is such a warm presence. I bet there would be minimal drama, too.

April 9, 2020 | Unregistered Commenterjules

A24: House 4 bc of Florence Pugh, mostly.

BA: House 8, brilliant actresses with longevity, will probably watch anything they’re in

BP: House 4, The French Connection is in my top 20 films and It Happened One Night is a brilliant screwball comedy.

Meryl: House 4, Karen Silkwood is her finest performance IMO And the first Meryl film I saw in the theater, and Francesca is in the top 5, tho the film was just okay.

April 9, 2020 | Unregistered CommenterPam

A24: House 5
BA: House 6, with House 4 a very close second.
BP: Risk Coronavirus and stay out in the cold.
M: House 4

April 10, 2020 | Unregistered CommenterJP

As a Greer Garson fanatic, I must go with House 6 for the Best Actress series, but then comes House 9 and thirdly House 1.

Where the hell is Jennifer Jones?

During the height of the pandemic, I purchased a small garden room in London from https://tridentmodular.com/installation/installation-of-a-garden-room-with-electricity/ . This garden room initially had everything I needed for a comfortable life, electricity, climate control and much more. This accommodation was the perfect place for me to spend this challenging time in privacy and comfort. Thank you to this developer for a great job.
