Regina King directs Viola Davis

Regina King directed a photo-essay for W magazine called "Black Americana" starring Viola Davis and her family. The photographer is Andre D. Wagner. It's just beautiful. Check it out

Anyone else just LOVING Viola’s career these days?

Rich, legend-making roles for someone who couldn’t deserve them more. Long may she reign!

This is all so beautiful.

I’m predicting (and hoping) for Carey but I am not discounting a Viola SAG win.

Viola's second makes her a member of The Inevitables. With her prestige and drawing of baity roles it's going to be lead. At least not an another unnecessary category fraud win.

I don't understand this photoshoot.

Makes about as much sense as most photoshoots PegS.

Am I the only one to find this photoshoot in incredibly bad taste?

I don’t really understand why a film director/actress would agree to direct a photoshoot for a magazine? Why are you exited about it? Are they best friends and that’s why this happened?

Love this. Usually Viola is presented as fierce, fearless, strong... here she’s just part of a loving family. King says her goal was to show Black Americana, something beyond the trials and tribulations.

Luke, not sure what you find in bad taste. Would you feel the same if it were, say Olivia Wilde directing a photo shoot of Cate Blanchett?

Yeah, Regina King the new Antonioni.

Beautiful photoshoot and message. I hope they work together on a film project!

I enjoyed it. Especially the clothes. My favorite, much to my surprise, was the green M Kors sweater and "slip skirt". Maybe it's some remnant of homophobia, demanding more of Michael?

Biggs - I am not sure what half-baked point you are trying to make with the Blanchett/Wilde comparison. My reaction would be the same. Two millionaires staging a mock-up crime scene surrounded by police tape whilst draped in Armani is the EPITOME of bad taste.
