Linking up that hill

Criterion Renate Reinsve (Worst Person in the World) demonstrates marvelous taste while inside the Criterion Closet
Boy Culture their delicious annual recap of Broadway Bares (lots of photos and video)
MNPP Pedro Almodóvar is making another short (after that Tilda-starring The Human Voice). This one a gay western starring Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal. Can't wait!

More after the jump including Dakota Johnson, The Lovely Laura Linney, Kate Bush, a new film from Andrew Haigh, and a reinvention of James Bond...

• Guardian A complete "reinvention of Bond" is next. But not for years. Sadly our most fervent wish was that they'd take him back to fun/sexy which worked for decades. But it doesn't look like that's happening.
Fashionisto Henry Golding becomes the first brand ambadassor for David Yurman
GQ profiles that multi-eared man in Crimes of the Future, modern dancer Tassos Karahalios

MNPP Andrew Haigh (Weekend) is making a new movie starring Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott. Yum!
• Quartz Just how much is Kate Bush earning off of "Running Up That Hill" post-Stranger Things? (Streaming isn't a great revenue source for artists usually but she's the sole songwriter and owns ALL of her own music)
Vanity Fair Dakota Johnson profile. Did you know that she grew up with Riley Keough as one of her best friends?
• Vulture great interview with Laura Linney, whose doing press for Ozark but loves talking about the theater

I don't understand why some artists/bands are selling off their publishing for lots of money as I just think it's a bad idea. It's a good thing Kate Bush didn't do that and is reaping the rewards of it as I'm happy more people are listening to her music.

I'm also hoping for a collaboration with her and Big Boi of Outkast one of these days. He's a big fan of hers. Plus, he's one of my local homeboys. ATL represent!

Why am I not surprised by nepobabies Dakota Johnson and Riley Keough being bffs while growing up? At least Keough is talented, but I'm tired of seeing Johnson everywhere, being given opportunity after opportunity while never being truly above average.

RE Bond I wish they'd fine a happy medium, something for a new generation and something for those who grew up on a more fun fantasy Bond, anything but this overhyped series of 4 films.

So excited for Pedro's short with Ethan Hawke. As I recall, Hawke loved Pain and Glory and First Reformed was one of the DVDs Pedro featured in The Human Voice, so they admire one another.
