Too Many Links

We haven't done a link roundup in a several days in a quiet week at the site (apologies - I've been sick) so a few of these you might have already read but they're worth noting in case you haven't!

Esquire Harvey Guillén (What We Do in the Shadows) writes about his coming out journey
Action Figures was it a good idea to let your cat watch Neil Gaman's Sandman on Netflix?
Deadline Brendan Fraser (The Whale) getting a tribute at TIFF (the Oscar campaign is already in motion)
Deadline Elijah Wood and Lauren Ambrose (double-yay) joining the cast of Yellowjackets for season two

A smart project for Jason Momoa, more callousness from HBOMax, season 2 of Feud (six years later), Harry Styles, and more after the jump...

Swimming World Jason Momoa is going to make a biopic of Hawaiian legend Duke Kahanamoku. Great choice!
• ... TFE we discussed Duke Kahanamoku years back in a piece on Olympian actors
• AV Club the Buffy reboot is dead (we're glad to hear it. There is no reason to redo "perfect in their moment" series or movies)
• IndieWire must read queer cinema interview - Andrew Ahn (Fire Island, Spa Night) interviewed Gregg Araki (The Living End, Mysterious Skin, etcetera) about his career
Cartoon Brew animators are naturally upset that HBOMax is just vanishing 25 (you read the number right) animated titles from their library
Variety Feud is finally getting a second season six years after the first (way to strike while the iron is hot) this one focusing on Truman Capote (Tom Hollander) making enemies of his high society friends by writing about them
Rolling Stone talks to Harry Styles about his transition to movies, about his relationship with Olivia Wilde, and about accusations of queer-baiting
AV Club fills us in on what's happening on Disney+ Day (which has moved to September)
OMG Blog Taylor Lautner is marrying a woman named Taylor who will then be named Taylor Lautner
Vanity Fair meet the new Addams Family in Tim Burton's Netflix series Wednesday
Coming Soon New images from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
Theater Mania a clip of Lea Michele in rehearsal for Funny Girl

Is Styles insufferable or am I just not down with the kids.

Fraser is my 100 per cent certainty for Best Actor next year,i don't think anyone ticks every box this year like he does.

That Esquire article was beautifully written by Harvey Guillen.

Tom Hollander is such a wonderful choice to play Capote. Such an interesting actor, he can be chillingly scary (Hanna), a charming friend (A Good Year), unabashedly obnoxious (Pride and Prejudice). Maybe all those will be needed to play Capote!

And that list of actresses playing Truman’s high society friends... delicious.

Of actors who have played Truman Capote, I have a soft spot for Toby Jones, a brilliant and versatile actor who lights up every production he’s in with his sharp originality, thoughtfulness, and humanity.

There's going to be a special place in Hell for David Zaslav as he is just destroying not just one of the best streaming services out there in favor of a new service that people won't like. He's destroying an entire legacy of Warner Brothers from their films and properties and its history of animation. Man, fuck that guy.

If I was a rich man, I'd pay all the tickets for Funny Girl and invite the Juggalos so they can throw everything at Lea Michele including actual shit. She is an awful singer and a horrible person.

Rolling Stone magazine is shit. It wants to be in touch with popular culture yet it is out of touch with reality as it is run by an aging queen who will continue to celebrate mediocrity. Jann Wenner is a fucking cunt. He has no respect for good music and he is why the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame is such a sham. Even when he tries to please the people, he still gets shit on. I will always smile whenever I watch that clip when he says "and from Toronto..." and then comes this massive pop of cheers from the audience as it was for the Mighty Rush. It was so loud that it spooked Wenner while the mothers of Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson gave Wenner the finger during that moment. Never piss off old Jewish ladies from the old country.

My daydream would be that the tax write offs Zaslav is planning would be disallowed by the IRS.

The title holder of a cultural property is the temporary custodian of that cultural property. Cultural properties belong to the nation. Temporary custodians of the property have the responsibility of maintaining the property and making sure it is not damaged in any way.
